Here is a carb or fuel mixer that I think is for a small Nelson Bros Little Jumbo. It is in good shape and seems to be ready to use. It appears someone might have ground down the mounting area to make it fit in a smaller hole. It would probably work fine as is or it would be easy to have a machinist true it up and make a bushing to slip over that area. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. I think this is for a small Nelson Bothers engine. It mounts to the engine by slipping into a hole. I think the mounting area has been ground down. It is currently a little uneven and a little tapered It is 1-3/16″ at the base and 1-1/16″ at the top. No, Cracks, Breaks, or Welds that I can see or know of. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper you I won’t take it back. Here is a very nice old 1 3/4hp Nelson Brothers Model P hit and miss gas engine. It is fresh from an old collection where it lived for many years. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks or repairs other than a drop of weld on the trip finger on the magneto. It turns over nicely with excellent compression and everything seems to move and function as it should. There is very little wear on the gearing or in the bearings. It was gone through mechanically by a previous owner and primed but not painted. It has the original name tag and muffler on it. This engine would be a very straightforward project and is not a very common engine! It would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or Nelson Brothers display. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it. I can deliver this for free to Symco, WI, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, engine shows or several auctions later this year. There are not many early, vertical ignitor Jumbo’s floating around, that’s for sure! The engine is totally complete, including the muffler, pulley, and I have a reproduction crankguard that goes with it as well. The engine has very nice compression and the Webster mag is nice and HOT. You can see some really early characteristics on this engine that were soon changed on later Jumbo engines, like the pushrod holder is just a cavity in the rocker arm itself, working with the double spring on the exhaust valve, to hold the pushrod in place. Speed changer works great, this engine will run at rated working speed, or just idle for play by changing the lever back or forth. This engine has no grease cups on the mains, it has oil troughs, another early feature. It also has a dry head. Skids are original to the engine, and in good shape. Nice ball check oiler. The only non correct thing on the engine is the gas tank which is from a Briggs engine, but it works great. Nice original green paint all over the engine, and plenty of grease too. Starting crank is built in the flywheel. This engine needs NOTHING except a new home, gas, oil, and a show to take it to. Nice unpainted original engines like this are few and far between. This engine was just found in an old barn less than two weeks ago, looks to have never been cobbled, or messed with in any way shape or form. The wood plank it is setting on did not come with the engine, it’s just something I found to set the engine on. The engine is totally complete, it’s not missing one part, it has the original muffler, crankguard, and belt pulley on it. The engine is stuck, but I know it will free up easy, just from looking it over. The magneto, detent assembly, and some other small parts are not stuck. The piston is just stuck from setting in a barn for probably the better part of 70+ years. Has the original nameplate on it. Bore looks good, no bad pitting. Webster magneto looks to be in excellent shape, with no issues. There are NO, cracks, breaks or welds on this engine with the exception of a small, very old weld on the crankguard where it bolts to the base. This is an early and more desirable style Jumbo, with the “skeleton” style base. This is a true hit & miss, and would be a very simple, fun, and easy project for a beginner getting into engines. If you really got to it, I think this engine could be running in a weekend. If I had more spare time I would knock the piston out, and get it running myself. These early Nelson Brothers aren’t really plentiful, when you get it lose and running, you will have a very nice engine to take to the shows and draw some attention. No cracks, breaks or welds except for a repaired rocker arm (see picture). Has Webster Magneto, 16 fly wheels. Starts and runs well. Don’t know if cart is original, but it is very nice. This engine is in far above average condition. The compression is phenomenal, you can hold in on compression as long as you like and it won’t leak by. There is also no blowby when it runs. This is a nice tight engine. The only weld i can see is on the head, and it appears to be a good job and does not leak at all, i’ve had water in it for a whole day with no leaks. It has the really hard to find, two piece, cast iron crankgaurd on it yet, which is almost always missing on larger jumbo engines. It has the original, factory belt pulley and muffler as well. The bore is in perfect shape with no rust pitting or scratches, same goes for the piston. The only thing missing is a gas tank, i hooked up a briggs tank for the video. It has what appears to be a brand new, oiler on it. Carb is in really good shape and works just as it should. This is not a small engine, the flywheels are 36. If you have been wanting a big, hit and miss to take to the shows, you won’t find a better runner than this one. There are very few of these big hit & miss nelson brothers out there, and you almost never see them for sale. I can deliver this engine for $75 to portland, in or coolspring, pa shows and swap events this year. I can also personally deliver this for $100 anywhere in ohio, kentucky, or tennessee sometime within the next two months. You can also pick it up here free, we are 100 miles north of detroit. I can store the engine under cover for 6 months, for no charge until you come get it. Feel free to ask questions.
