A magnificent old 1/2 HP Sipp Steam Engine. As shown in the 1895 catalog and several catalogs in the early 1900′s. The bed length is 23 1/2 inches. The width is 13 1/2 inches. Flywheel is 9.5 diameter by 2 inch face. The bore and stroke is 1.75″ X 3″. It will run easily and smoothly on 1 psi or less on air or steam. I have run it only on air. I can run it easily on my own breath. It would be difficult to find a better example in this original condition. Be sure to study the pictures. They are part of the description. Ca 1895 Grant Sipp became the successor to G. These two successions allowed Sipp to offer appropriate boilers in the 1/4 hp and 1/2 hp sizes, in addition to the full lines of Sipp and A. In 1895, the catalog was titled “Sipp Machine Works” – Grant Sipp, Proprietor – Paterson, NJ. A slightly later catalog is titled “The Sipp Electric And Machine Company” Paterson, NJ – Manufacturers of Small Engines and Boilers, Gas Engines, Locomotives, Etc. The previous owner, steam engine collector A. Burr, had been collecting steam engines for over 60 years.
