F W Spacke Machine Co, air compressor serial number 6743, made in Indianapolis. From the limited research i have been able to do this was made between 1903 and 1913. The pictures on the Spacke web page show a compressor very similar to this one, you can also see the brass name plate clearly Its complete apart from missing some grease cups on the top bearings. It works well but has not been refurnished. I would guess it weighs around 110 lbs stands 26 inch high. Ornate brass placque, very solid base with 4 bolt holes. MAYTAG 72 Gas Engine Model + Washing Machine ie- Hit & and Miss Antique 92

MAYTAG 72 Gas Engine and Antique Washing Machine. Was Running Good When Stored Away. Here to sell in southern Wisconsin is a real. Nice complete original vintage Maytag washer machine with 2 spark plug /2 stroke motor — will run with some tinkering – we think just cleaning the points and it has good compression. It was running when put away several years ago so that is why it probably just needs the points cleaned. I didn’t write down the serial # but these were made 1937 to 1952 and you can find out the year by researching the serial #. Been stored inside and the tub inside looks as clean as if it did a laundry load yesterday. History of the 72. The twin cylinder Maytag, or’Model 72,’ began its life sometime in 1937 and was in continuous production and distribution until late into the year 1960. Quite a tribute to the popularity of the little twin cylinder. However, some explanation is due at this point in regard to the sale of the twin during the’50s and’60s. Maytag first advertised the’twin’ as a’reliable replacement’ for the popular one-cylinder or Model 92. The twin, or 72 as it was commonly referred to, was used primarily as a source of power for the Maytag washing machines. Even as late as the early’30s, some brands of washers were hand operated; thus a ready power source such as the twin had a great deal of influence on Americans’ work habits. However, the twin was also popular on numerous other types of machinery of that time period. These included generating battery chargers, corn shelters, water pumps, and a variety of lawn mowers. Despite its diminutive size, the twin cylinder was instrumental in the way tasks that required physical labor were performed during the’30s. Some said of Maytag twins,’If you have seen one, you have seen them all, because they all look alike. Nothing could be further from the truth. Maytag twins are all similar; however, there were a number of differences, some were just slight and difficult to spot, but others were much more significant. One of the most common of these differences was in the design of the fuel tank. The fuel tanks came in a variety of styles and materials. The most popular of these among today’s collectors is the tank (parts #S 321) with mounting lugs on all four corners. This particular tank is of cast iron. In August 1937, the fuel tank (part #S-306) which is also cast iron, was in production. It was somewhat different due to the fact that the threaded holes for mounting the engine to a washing machine frame were located in the bottom four corners of the tank. There were no mounting lugs. Any twin cylinder or 72, as they were dubbed by the Maytag Company, that was fitted with an extended long frame fuel tank is considered a collectible. Maytag twins with that type of fuel tank are much sought-after in today’s market. The main reason for this Maytagmania is mostly due to the fact that the extended long frame is not easy to find. Consider yourself very lucky if you are fortunate to have one in your collection. According to what little information is available, the extended long frame was a replacement part, thus not many were produced. Another possible reason for the shortage of the long frame was a change in the design of the frame of their washing machine. Thus another change in the design of the fuel tank was imminent. It also appears that, about this time, Maytag switched to a somewhat smaller aluminum tank, and the extended long frame tank was quickly and quietly obsolete. The extended long frame tank, which carried a parts number of S-322, was now history. ALSO I like and will trade for old farm signs or hit n miss motors or John Deere, etc. The tractor can be picked up by friendly Janewsville, WI in far southern Wisconsin. Give us a call to discuss the Maytag or if you have any questions. And I’m usually at my Nashville, TN location. We also have other locations we work with like here in Wisconsin. Business, The Tractor Barn, Inc. If picking up and paying in person than a Bank Cashiers Check is probably best. NOT LIVE STEAM. DEBOLT MACHINE INC. VAUGHN MODEL STATIONARY HIT AND MISS ENGINE

The original Vaughn was built around 1902. It was originally manufactured by the Star Mfg. It is a sidewinder sideshaft design that was only built for about four months. The model is copied from the only existing engine. It has igniter ignition, side shaft, hit and miss flyweight governor, and sidewinder crank with a single flywheel. As with all Debolt model engines they are a limited production run, so the Vaughn is no longer available. Debolt offer all their model engines in 3 different options. As drawings and castings that you machine yourself. As Mechanics Kit where all the machining is done and you paint and assemble the engine. As a completed engine assembled and painted. Each engine whether as option 1, 2 or 3 is supplied with a unique serial number this one is 2055. I bought the engine to go with my other stationary engines I had at the time and was my intention to go to local rallies etc and run them. But health issues and other problems got in the way and none of what I planned to do happened and wont now sadly. She is quite a lump and getting very difficult to move now for me. I apologize for the poor quality of the clip which was taken before the days that HD was freely available and the clip has been compressed quite a bit which doesnt help its quality. Also for the base which was a temporary one I used as the one that came with it was falling apart and for the clamp as she jumped a bit each time she fired on that temp base. But was good enough to see how she run. But it does show the engine running which is better than just looking at still pictures and me saying it runs fine. Since the video clip was taken I made the base you see the engine fitted to now in the still pictures. The condition of the engine best I can tell is still excellent, I dont think the engine had done much running when I bought her and I have only run her 2-3 times for short periods. So very little if any ware has taken place. Now to some measurements. Bore is 1.75 (45mm). Flywheel 9 (228mm) diameter. Drive pulley 2.25 (57mm) diameter. Base is 18 (447mm) long, 12.5/8 (320mm) wide and 3.75 (95mm) high. The low tension coil is mounted under the base to provide the spark as can be seen in the photo. There are 2 terminals on the rear of the base for the battery connection, one marked red for positive and the other black for negative, please note that battery must be no more than. Otherwise it will damage the coil and they are expensive to replace as well as spoiling your enjoyment of running the engine. The brass fuel tank does have a drain plug underneath so you can empty the tank once running is finished and before moving the engine (see photo). I have used ordinary petrol when running the engine, some say use Colemans fuel, but she seemed to run just fine on standard petrol. Not sure how long she will run on a tank full, being a hit and miss should be quite sometime, but have never run the engine long enough to find out. There is an adjustable glass drip feed lubricator for the cylinder and oil cups for all the other bearings on the engine, although the big end is a grease type lubricator. The engine is heavy weighing in at about 25 kilos before packing and will be packed in a wooden box for maximum protection during transit. So the expected total weight will be around 35 kilos, I wont know the exact weight till the box is made and the box wont be made till I know if the engine needs packing. I do pack everything I sell very carefully and will do my best with the engine as safely as possible, no one wants to receive damage goods, but of course I have no control on how its handled once it leaves me. So for example meeting at the. Services on the M4 is about 100 miles from my home. I have included with the listing a good selection of photos and of course do take a look at the video clip as well. But if you would like more photos of have any questions do please let me know. Thanks for looking and why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present. I also have a 90% complete Edger T Westbury Model Aveling DX roller I will be listing. The item “NOT LIVE STEAM. DEBOLT MACHINE INC. MAYTAG Gas Engine Model 92 Ice Cream Machine Hit & Miss Antique RESTORED withSPARK

Very RARE side exhaust, only 1 available! Guys been using these engines to power ICE CREAM MACHINES! Price of these engines in general are on the rise. Get one while you can! 7 engine pics are just for LOOKS, you will be receiving just ONE engine. Engines get NEW rings too, IF needed! Neat muffler, Maytag running on YouTube, neat display! This is a special, restored correctly Maytag, with RECHARGED MAGNETS! In the wheel for optimum spark. A lot of these engines get restored looking real nice, but this important step is overlooked, seeing access to a magnet recharger is just NOT available. What you end up with is a 70 year old weak spark that keeps the engine from running like it should. This one sparks LIKE NEW! So you’ll be lucky to have it as one to own! In my opinion too the SHORT BASES look much better and are more desirable then the longer bases, they just look more balanced, so again a plus! The engine was gone completely through and redone right from an “ole timer” that has a passion for restoring these Maytags. Engine is ready to go to a show or impress your friends or neighbors, what a conversation piece! These were mounted on the bottom of Maytag washing machines in the early to middle of the 19th century and used in rural America where a lot of people just didn’t have electricity. Usually the lady of the house would have the job of kick starting this engine in order to wash the clothes. Each engine is a little different, though basically they are ALL the SAME! “Ole Timer” restores how he finds them and keeps, restores as he gets them, i. Doesn’t add or take away parts from engines! Tip for cleaning old engines… Engine comes with SERVICE MANUAL! Could be a bit dusty from sitting on the shelf. Will be gone tomorrow, get one while you can! Anywhere to the lower 48 STATES, HI, or AK, will be more. Optimal 2 cycle oil mixture is 16-20 to 1, with 20 being preferred so it will smoke a little :0. Tips for easier starting. Set lever at 11,12 o’clock, choke out intake completely to cause fuel to be sucked into the carb. Every Maytag is unique, and a little learning curve is to be expected when new to these engines, please have some patience. Use a drill with a socket on the pulley side to turnover, instead of the kicker pedal at first, and ALWAYS USE CAUTION!!!! Easy washing machine engine in good vintage original condition. Flywheel looks to be aluminum with brass fan shroud. Fuel tank and carburetor original. Missing point cover and breather hose on crankcase. Older custom frame to hold engine. I had it running a few years back, so it shouldn’t take too much to get it popping again.
