Antique Low Tension SUMTER B Magneto Hit Miss Engine Brass
antique

For sale is a hard to find Sumter B magneto. This magneto turns over nicely and does produce a hot appearing spark just by giving the gear a spin by hand and scratching a test wire against my bench. The kicker/bad part of the whole mag is that one of the outer horse shoe magnets is broken! The piece is missing as well. Housing appears to be all brass. 2″ x 2″ mounting holes on center. Use your own judgement. Please see all of my pictures for the absolute best description, I think you will be happy with my pictures.

1920s Rebuilt Hit & Miss Engine Truck/ Cart Cast Iron Hardware Display
1920's
Comments Off
It was 12-13 years ago. I was driving the backroads, either on a Saturday or after school. What originally caught my eye was an old dump truck rotting away next to a little farmhouse. I had to stop and see what I could get myself into! Nestled off to the side was a gravel driveway. As my eyes wandered, they suddenly got much bigger-I could see the gates to scrap metal heaven. Several large old logging trucks, semi-trailers, bread trucks, old autos, large old barns, piles of steel, and a large anvil on a stump. Shit everywhere, but it was organized chaos. I knew I would fit in. I would have to say that what started out as a random drive ended in a great friendship with countless hours of front porch sweet tea drinking and bullshitting. It’s an early 1900s original! You just don’t see too many of these, and I wasn’t leaving without it. The wood was rotted and the frame was so rusted; it had been sitting exposed to the elements for many years. I had the vision though-mission accepted??? . The cast iron hardware and framework were so unique; I had to bring it back to life! I never thought it would take me 12-13 years to start it, though?? . I only wish I had a photo of the cart the day I found it?? .. This project turned out?????????? . Big thanks to Gene Fritsche for all your work on this one. We kicked some ass, buddy???? . WHAT IS A HIT & MISS????? A hit-and-miss engine is a type of internal combustion engine that was popular in the early 20th century, primarily used for small-scale applications like powering farm machinery, water pumps, and small factory equipment. It is named for its method of operation; the engine “hits” (fires) only when necessary and “misses” (coasts without firing) when the load is low or when the speed of the engine is above the set level. These engines are HEAVY BASTARDS, and you needed one of these “trucks” to transport your power from job to job! The last photo I attached is very close to this model and how this particular cart would have been used. I personally think this would be awesome if someone used this for displaying a restored hit-and-miss???????????? but There are so many different uses-coffee table, pull the kids around the yard?? , wheel out your store sign for the day?? , store display? 7 ft total length with handle.

1hp INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER MOGUL JR Hit Miss Gas Engine Crankshaft withGear NICE
international

This is an original crankshaft for a 1 hp International Harvester Mogul Jr gas engine. It is in good used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind and includes the pinion gear which is also in very nice shape. I believe this crankshaft fits both the flat top and slant top engines. This crankshaft measures about 1 1/8 inches in diameter in the bearing journals and 1 inch in diameter where the flywheels mount. It is about 17 1/2 inches long. The bearing journals need to be polished and the connecting rod journal a bit more but I think with a little effort they will clean up nicely. After that I think this crankshaft should be ready to be used in an engine. Mogul Jr parts don’t come along very often so if you need one for any reason here’s your chance. The pictures tell the story. I can be reached at 262 573 193 1 if you’d like to talk about it.

This was in working condition when I pulled it off my 2hp Jaeger. I changed it out with one that matched the rest of the brass look of the engine. Please know that this is a old part and probably should be rebuilt to have it be 100%. Thanks for looking and God bless. If you ask me it was a huge mistake on ebays part and will hurt my sales and surly hurt them as well. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Here is a connecting rod for a 6hp RX Stover Engine. Check out the pictures and see if it something you need! For questions 419 789 1159. Came off a 6hp RX Stover, may fit other models and sizes. It is about 21-3/8 in overall length not counting the studs. It is about 18-1/8 from center or wrist pin hole to center of crank hole. The wrist pin hole is 1-3/8 in diameter. The crank hole seems to be about 2-1/4″ in diameter, the bearing seems to be 2-1/2″ wide. The bearing is cracked but it should still work fine, it can’t go anywhere when its installed on the engine. It is 14 lbs before any box or packing material. “AS IS” what you see is what you get. Thanks for looking at this listing!
