Here is a very nice and hard to find carb for a 2-1/2hp to a 3-1/2hp Hercules or Economy hit and miss engine. Check out the pictures and see if you need it. Fits a 2-1/2hp to 3-1/2hp Hercules or Economy hit and miss engines. The brass fitting for the fuel inlet threads aren’t perfect, it might work as is or get a new one at a hardware store. Very old brass Fuel Mixer — from a 4 hp Hit and Miss engine of a Model’D’ Vaughan Drag Saw — includes a matching brass Fuel Filter unit — almost exactly like the Lunkenheimer version, but cannot find any markings other than a’52′ on the Fuel Filter unit — throat is 1 in. / threaded outlet is 1 in. Thread as well / fuel line input is 3/8 in. With a 3/8 to 7/16 in. Brass looks nice inside but outside has heavy tarnish/patina / everything still moves ok– iron parts are rusty (spring and cotter pin) — The primary issue is that the fuel filter unit and main carb body are held together with a short length of threaded steel piping that has broken off inside of each unit and will need to be removed and replaced — also the brass screen for the filter is in bad condition but exists — – we are always listing interesting items of Historical Tech. Hard to find complete mixer / carburetor. Came off a 2 Horse Fairbanks Morse Type H Hit & Miss gasoline engine. From about 1911, based on block numbers. Pretty sure this is same mixer / carburetor used on a Fairbanks type T hit & miss style engine. There is an old repair to the carburetor flange. Original needle valve is not stuck. Choke adjusts and locks as it should. Threads to mixer gas line are good. Needs to be cleaned up and have new gaskets – but it’s all here. This is a very hard to find original fuel mixer or carburetor for an International Harvester 1hp Famous, Titan, or Tom Thumb hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of. It has the G6971 part number and IHC logo cast into it as can be seen Everything seems to function as it should and it has the original choker sleeve on it. The mounting threads are in great shape. There are a lot of these that are broken, repaired, or simply missing so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! The engine turns over and has good compression. The mixer also turns just fine. I have the pulley and chain that went with the mixer. The engine cover is made of wood and metal and is removable. One of the tires has split and so it makes it hard to roll. They are solid rubber but the years have been hard on them. The engine was in a covered shed when I bought it, and has been kept indoors for the last several years. This engine is a little too big for me to keep. I got the itch to restore one of these and found this one, but in reality this really needs to go to someone that has more space to store than I. The mixer is from Republican Iron Works in Tecumseh Mich. The engine is located in Columbia, SC.
