Up for sale is a very nice restored Maytag Model 72, Antique hit miss Gas Engine. The flywheel has serial # 197354X stamped on it so it was in production 1950. Painted with original Maytag black automotive paint. The skids you see under my motors go with the engine. I have been restoring these engines for over 10 years. I also restore Maytag wringer washers and put Maytag motor’s on them as well. This engine was completely taken apart and SAND blasted BEAD blasted cleaned and painted the original Maytag green paint. I take a lot of pride in these motors as you can see in my pictures. Lot of guys likes to copy my work so I have a trade mark that I can only tell that it is one that I had done. As you can see this engine is complete and not missing any parts such as the pulley and air cap. It has new rings, condenser and spark plugs and plug wire with new ends. I also honed out the Cylinder jug. I do not paint the flywheels like some people I just polish them up nice. After putting it all back together I ran two tanks of fuel through it and it runs just fine. I like to run my engines that much so I know it will run great and help seat the rings a little for you. All my carburetor’s get rebuilt with all new and correct parts. Then I put on a set of real nice WATER TRANSFER DECAL that I had made and sell. NOT those NASTY sticky fly by night cheap decals. The coil is good and has hot nice spark. I have a lot of people will send me a motor to restore for them as well. All it needs now is fuel and you can start it with your hand, it is that easy to start. The kick pedal will be removed so you will need to put it back on. I use foam spray to pack the motor and it takes a lot. I will start packing the engine and it takes about 5 days to pack it so the foam spray can dry. Thank you for looking. What we have here is a very nice fh briggs I have had this motor for about 12 years the way you see it is the way I bought it I took it to a few shows and ran it always ran great I always started it with with my hand after the shows gas was drained and was put in my basement where it has been for the last 10 years as you can see carb is broken but thats the way it was when I got it always ran great so I left it. Note that a small lathe & mill are required to machine this engine. The Type B is a neatly styled inverted engine that was designed to look & be built like something that could have been made years ago. It uses an over-hung flywheel crankshaft that sits above a slanted finned, air-cooled cylinder. This engine can run as a hit & miss, (or by simply locking a governor screw), it can run as a throttler engine. It can also run in either direction. This engine uses high tension spark ignition & runs off regular gasoline by using a simple RMC vapor carburetor. The engine can also be easily set up for other gas or liquid fuels. For a gas engine, it goes together fairly easy & is a neat engine to run. 4 Grey-Iron Castings, (engine base, flywheel & muffler castings). Detailed Nameplate with Stamped Serial #. Full, computer drawn machining plans with machining notes. A computer CD full of pictures of finished engines, machining set-ups, jigs, etc. There is also an engine manual/owner? S manual on the CD that can be printed out. This contains notes about adjusting the engine & running it. Note: Material stock for larger pieces such as the piston, timer bottom, head, belt pulley etc. Is included with the castings but small pieces 1/2? Diameter brass for the mixer & hardware for this engine does not amount to much & is not included. There is a parts list with the plans. You will need to have an ignition coil preferably a? Coil type or one made for a model engine & a battery to run the engine. Engine Dimensions: 7/8″ Bore, 5-3/4″ diameter flywheel. The finished engine will stand about 10-1/2 tall & will weigh about 7-1/2 lbs. Engine speeds from 150 to 1,500 rpm can be obtained. Compared to other gas engine kits, this kit is fairly simple since the engine doesn? T have any gears, cams, push rods, etc. To machine & line-up. Care should still be taken to machine the few parts this engine does have and a small lathe & mill & standard tools will be needed to machine the castings & make parts for this engine. Castings clean up easily with an air die grinder, carbide burr & files. Note that the base casting has mounting bosses placed conveniently on it, making it ideal for? This is a Vintage 1930s MAYTAG 72D TWIN HIT & MISS 2-CYLINDER MOTOR ENGINE. It appears to be in Overall NICE condition! It is fairly clean overall… I can turn the flywheel by hand, and the cylinders are moving freely. The spark plug wires need connectors to attach to the spark plugs. 1 of the motor mount lobs is broken off, and the one on the other side from that has a crack. It has a Hand start handle (missing wood handle piece) instead of the foot pedal type. So, it needs a couple of things, and that is why it is listed as “for parts or repair”…. But, I think it won’t take that much work to get it running again. CHECK ALL pictures BELOW For condition details.
