Antique Ohio Side Shaft Hit & Miss Gas Steam Hot Air Engine Motor Sandusky Old

This 8hp Ohio gas engine was made around 1906 & originally used near a dock at the old fish hatchery at Deer Park near Sandusky, Ohio to pump water for the hatchery. The engine was restored & painted red in the late 1970s/early 1980s & has been bored & sleeved. It has a great cylinder which can be seen by the way it bounces back & forth against compression towards the end of the video below. The engine looks oily & greasy in the pictures because it has been sitting for years oiled & protected in a nice concrete floor building. There is no weld on the engine but there was a small tin patch on the bottom of the engine at one time. This was taken off when it was restored years ago. The backside flywheel has 1/8 wobble when looking at its outer diameter but the flywheel on the working side of the engine looks fine. Other than that the engine looks good & is in good shape mechanically. This engine has the original little belt pulley on the working side of the engines crankshaft that is rarely seen. This was an option by the Ohio Motor Company & a small air or water circulating pump was originally belted off of it. This engine can be viewed at the address below. Ed & Nick Rowland. Antique Steam Engine Oilers. Hit And Miss Oilers. Great set of brass antique Oilers. These are manufactured by ohio injector Co. In very very nice condition. Valve’s function smooth and are tight. No slop or sticky parts they turn smooth and feel like the seals and seats are good condition. Inside needs cleaning from sum corrosion but they are in usable condition. Top seals tight thread are nice. Just need cleaning up and polishing they will look fabulous no big dents. Minor small nicks and scratches but they are original not cleaned. Please see photos 8 tall. Here is a 303K63 Webster magneto igniter bracket that I think is for an Ohio gas engine. This would fit a push rod version of an Ohio and not a side shaft. Please take a look at the pictures and see if you need it. No cracks, breaks, or welds, that I can see or know of. No wear can be felt in the movable electrode, there is a washer in between it and the body though so it may or may not seal up alright. Uses a K or L magneto with the 2″ x 2″ mounting pattern. Mounts to the engine with two holes 2-3/8 apart on center. The raised area in the center is 1-1/2 in diameter. I try to list items very accurately but my opinions on condition may differ from yours. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper you I won’t take it back. Nice old Apple Dynamo in working condition. Length with shaft 9″ and 5″ in diameter and weighs over 21 pounds. Completely apart and new wires attached at the fields with new brushes fitted, makes electricity counter clockwise rotation from the shaft end. The shaft size is 1/2″ and the mounting holes are 4 1/8 x 2″ on centers. Rotated with electric drill and makes over 10 volts. Two small things i must mention a small nail for the lid hinge and a small amount of play on the brass out put shaft which does not affect the function. I do not know what the Dynamo was made for but probably was used in several applications years ago. I would think it would date to the 20/30′s. Oldest Known Cook Hit Miss Gas Engine Mfg’d Delaware Ohio 3hp. Here is a very nice vertical 3 horse power COOK hit miss gas engine. As far as I know this is the oldest, and only known Cook of this style. I have a letter from 1977 to the current owner at that time Harold Rafferty, from Donald Cook, the son of Arthur G Cook Senior, second son of Charles Cook, the founder of Cook Motor Company. In part of the letter it states that. The first few Cook engines were single overhead valves with external cam shafts. Then came the “L” head. Only the very early engines were “L” head. Therefore your beauty is undoubtedly older than any of the overhead valve models with enclosed cam shafts. If you are into COOK engines this one is for you! I have been collectiong engines for 50 year and have travelled all across this country, and have never seen another like it. It will make a great addition to your collection. I have set a resonable reserve. Don’t miss out on a great engine. I haven’t run the motor in a few years. The gas tank may need to be drained and flushed. I included many photos to show its condition. The water jacket was repaired many years ago. The flywheels turn with no run out, or wobble. It has always been a smooth runner.
