Very Nice “as found” WEBSTER TYPE AMM MODEL 303M51 TRI POLAR OSCILLATOR MAGNETO. Physically quite clean and appears to be all there with no broken/cracked parts (see all photos). Has not been tested but should be functional. If not, should take little to make it so based on condition I feel.. LATE NOTE: A crack on the inner magnet band was just located (see last close-up photo). Didn’t notice it originally and not sure how big a deal it is, but since it came to my attention I wanted to make sure ALL was divulged. This engine has been restored probably 20 years ago, and is in excellent condition. The skids under this engine are original and in perfect shape, the gas tank is also in very good shape, with no leaks or repairs. This engine even has the original tin crank guard, and pressed steel pulley. The Sumter magneto is nice and HOT, and I put a brand new base on it, from Rudy Adrian’s Magneto. There are NO cracks, breaks or welds on this engine that I can find. Flywheels run true and compression is very strong. It even has the original nameplate still on the head. If you have been looking for a plug oscillator Fairbanks to add you your collection, they don’t get much better than this one! I can store this engine for up to 6 months or until you come get it, we are 100 miles north of Detroit. (engine runs better once it gets really warm). This brass body magneto is in good condition. The only parts not original are one screw for one of the bearing plates and the two small screws for the terminal cover. The armature spins freely with very little play. The bracket mounting stud threads are all good and are spaced at 2″ x 2″. The magnets don’t seem very strong but when I snapped the armature by hand it produced a nice white spark on the bracket that was attached when found.
