Antique Hit & Miss Toolbox. International Gas Engine Co. The International Gas Engine Co. (Ingeco), of Cudahy Wis. Appeared in the gas engine community in early 1912 with a vast line of stationary engines, including push-rod style farm engines, side-shaft engines and vertical engines. The vertical and horizontal engines were available as hopper-cooled as well as tank cooled. Ingeco built a horizontal air-cooled engine as well. The diversity of fuel usage in this line of engines included gas, gasoline, oil and producer gas. The company featured horsepower ratings to fit the needs of almost anyone, including sizes from 1-1/2 to 350 horsepower. Leather strap handles on sides a bit tattered, no strap. Wood and hardware in good shape, no lock. Four pull out drawers. Last photo is an example of an “Ingeco” engine (reference only). A couple Bullock Electric Mfg. Stickers on the inside and a couple unreadable motor tags are nailed to the top (i did not attempt to clean them up). Approximately 21 inches wide X 14 inches tall X 7 inches deep. Barn find condition, original original original! Very hard to find in this condidition correct ms10b carburetor, but carb does have some deterioration of the top plate on the carb. Sediment bowl has some slight deterioration of the metal as well. Overall you would be hard pressed to find another one this nice! This was manufactured in the U. There is an original flywheel and a Stromberg Carb. The flywheel measures 11.5 across and 2 8/16 wide. I inside dimensions of the flywheel where the crank shaft runs is 1 1/8. The Carb is a Stromberg UR-3/4 80. Motor rolls but unsure if it will fire. Mounted on a couple old blocks. Essex Hot Air Engine. This is a great early hot air engine. This engine is in excellent mechanical condition it is complete with no damaged or missing parts. The moving parts of this engine seem to have very little wear and it turns over very smoothly. I have never tried running the engine but based on experience with other antique hot air engines I have no doubt that it would start and run nicely if hooked up to a proper fuel source. This engine is just about as nice of an untouched original Essex as you are likely to find. The engine has never been cleaned in any way and retains a great deal of its original silver paint. One of the coolest features of this engine the original period wood base nicely carved with the words Hot Air Engine, and name Hilbert Doepp Dec 25 1908. This engine is set up to run on natural gas and has part of the original plumbing including a fancy brass gas valve still attached. One the top side of the engine there is the name Essex and the patent date of March 24 1903. These engines were designed to run a wide variety of small equipment.
