Plunket jr antique engine no. Beautifully preserved engine with original dark green faded paint. Great patina, no pitting on metal, no cracks, breaks or welds. Out of syracuse, ny. These engines were built for real type mowers. This engine is very small and in really nice shape. The only thing that looks not factory is they have a pin through the flywheel hub, i think there is supposed to be a pin in there but i could be wrong. Otherwise the engine is in excellent shape, with no cracks, breaks or welds anywhere. These engines are very few and far between, this is the first one i have ever owned. Rare 1/2 hp l. Gillespie lowell hit miss gas engine. Here is an extremely scarce 1/2 horse power engine. I have seen it advertised in the big yellow book under l. Gillespie of marion indiana, or lowell engine works of lowell massachusetts. I have heard of only one other in all of my years of collecting old iron. It will make a great addition to any collection. I have included many photos to show its condition. It is in great shape with no cracks or welds. I haven’t run it in many years. It does need a gas tank. It has spent its life indoors all its life, and the bright work will clean up nicely. It is a great old engine and will make a fantastic addition to the most advanced of collections. Fairmont engines are very common and almost every collector has one or has had one. Two cylinder fairmonts are extremely rare and this is the first one i have ever owned or had the chance to own. It is rated at 10-15hp. It is missing the carburetor, but other than that it is totally complete and in really nice, unmolested condition. It is not stuck, but stiff from sitting. I don’t think it need much to make it run other than a carb. As you can tell by the grease and original paint, this was never left out in the elements. Buzz coil for a one cylinder hit & miss engine. The coil is in very good original condition. I tested it with a 6 volt battery and it is nice and hot, throws a nice thick blue spark. Only blemishes are two small chips in the wood, which is hardly worth mentioning. Original nameplate is in great shape. Coil and plate both, have excellent original patina, and would look very good setting by, or running your new way engine at the shows this summer! This engine was built by the brownwall engine co. It is mounted on a very nice custom built hand cart, that makes it very easy to move the engine around. This is a good size engine for 3hp, very impressive to watch it run. Engine only has two issues, one is a chunk broke out on the top of the cylinder which will never give you any trouble. The other issue is one of the tabs on the rod is broke, and it was repaired exceptionally well with a blacksmith repair job, that will never give you any trouble, one of the nicest repairs i’ve seen. Neither of the above issues are anything to worry about. There are no other cracks, breaks or welds on this engine. It has excellent compression and very minimal wear. Flywheels run as straight as an arrow. Has the correct, factory belt pulley on it. Muffler isn’t original but looks very nice, and is well built. Webster magneto is nice and hot, and starts the engine right up every time. There are no water leaks or gas leaks. This engine runs very well, and is a good strong runner, you can feel the exhaust wind from the muffler 10ft away. Has the original brownwall check valve assembly which works nice. This is a very impressive engine, that needs nothing but a show to take it to. You won’t be disappointed with this one! I can deliver this engine to portland, in or coolspring, pa swap meets and shows this year for $50. I can also store it here for up to 6 months for no charge.
