ANTIQUE McCORMICK DEERING RUNNING GEAR Antique McCormick Deering running gear in super nice condition, very straight and only one small repair that I have noticed. The repair is on the rear bolster where the reach ties in, and can be seen in the photos below. The “McCormick Deering” painted on the rear bolster is faded and hard to read but is there. The wheels have some play, but not bad, and it rolls very nicely. Measurements are approximate: rear wheels 34 in dia. Front wheels 27 dia. Width from outside rim to outside rim is 63. The wheel base, measuring hub to hub, is 83 and it looks like the adjustable reach will allow at least 3 feet more in length of wheel base. All in all this is a very nice and very straight gear. Nice running little hit miss engine. The flywheels are about 5 1/2 in diameter. Verticle engine that is hit miss governered. Very neat little engine. Made from Aluminum, Brass, and steel. This engine runs good. There is a coil in the attached so all you need is a battery and some gas. I think its in great shape but I didn’t build it and never had it apart. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper, I won’t take it back. The engine is in good shape, and runs just as good as it looks. The gas tank is not correct as you can see, but seems to work ok. There is only one repair on the engine, and its on the trip assembly, which doesn’t hurt a thing. The Webster magneto is nice and hot, and never fails to start the engine right up. The only thing the engine is missing is a muffler and nameplate, which both can be bought new. Compression is good/fair, when the engine is running there is no blowby, but when you turn the engine over by hand some compression will leak by. This engine needs nothing but a new owner and some gas and oil, nothing else required to be ready to hit the shows. Comes with a nice ball check oiler with new glass, works perfect! A fairly scarce engine to find compared to a 1 1/2hp Economy! No gear noise or any bad clunks, the engine runs smooth, hits strong, and coasts nice. The engine runs excellent, and is totally complete and correct with the exception of a muffler. Magneto is good and hot, and it starts the engine right up every time. The gas tank is homemade but doesn’t leak to my knowledge and is nice and heavy duty. Flywheels run perfectly true, and the engine has good compression. Ignitor trips just fine, and isn’t worn in the shaft. I don’t see any cracks, breaks or welds anywhere on this engine that I can find. It has an old paintjob on it that still looks fairly good. Speed control nob works perfectly, the engine will run at whatever speed you want it to. Ready to hit the shows! Runs smooth, hits strong, and coasts nice. The engine has good compression. There is no gas tank, so I have been running it with a squirt can of gas. Runs nice and slow, hits strong! Has a 3 bar Webster magneto that is in excellent shape, and so is the bracket. The carburetor is homemade, but works just fine. Could use a new wrist pin and bushing, in these early Economys the pin is steel and the bushing is cast iron, so they make a lot of clunking noise with the slightest bit of wear, I would suggest putting a brass bushing in, it will get rid of all the clunk noise. The engine has the original belt pulley on it which is also in very nice shape. Only issues are, the rocker arm is welded, and there is a small weld on the side of the hopper. Oiler may need some tlc, mainly a good cleaning. Good straight engine that needs very little to be show ready, basically all you need is a gas tank and a fuel line with a checkvalve, that’s it! Could use a muffler or a nice straight pipe, whatever the new owner prefers. Nice early engine, right around 1916! Just needs a new home! The engine is in very nice shape mechanically, compression is very good and overall wear is really low. This is a HEAVY built engine, weighs far more than a normal 2hp engine. The flywheels have the name cast into them. The only two issues with it, is a small chip out of the piston, and a small weld on the side of the head, neither of these things affects the engines operation at all. The engine fires strong and coasts nice too. It will run slower that it’s running in the video. The engine is totally complete including the original muffler and belt pulley. Comes with a nice early Lunkenheimer oiler (needs new glass). Take a look at the pictures and decide for yourself, this engine is ready to hit the shows next summer! So sell along with their water pumps. The compression is really good, there are NO issues with this engine at all. Flywheels run perfectly true and are both in great shape. The engine has the original name plate on it yet. It is mounted on a very nice set of skids, and is complete with a battery box and buzz coil. The engine is very unworn, and in great shape, most Duro’s either have flywheel problems or issues of some kind, this one is about as good as it gets. The engine is complete including a muffler and belt pulley. Comes with a rope start as well, the engine fires right up after choke, every time. All you need to run it, is some gas and a 6 or 12v battery, that’s it! This is a 4 cycle engine so you don’t even have to mix oil in the gas. These engines are getting very hard to find, even harder to find in this condition, so if you have been looking for one, don’t pass it up. It’s show ready! There is no nameplate so I don’t know what this one was tagged as. The flywheels are 28 so I assume it was either rated 5 or 6hp. The engine is in excellent shape mechanically, compression is super, and there is very little wear on the moving parts. The negatives are, the carburetor is not correct but works fine, it is off a Stover engine. The detent appears to be welded, but see picture, it almost looks like maybe just the way it was casted? Also the governor weights are homemade, but somebody did a great job making them (governor bracket it correct). Webster magneto and bracket are in great shape, and the magneto is nice and HOT! This engine resembles a Waterloo, but that’s the only similarity, the looks, nothing interchanges, they are totally different from a Waterloo and a lot harder to come by. Head looks good with no welds that I can find. Hopper holds water just fine, no leaks, same with the gas tank.
