This is a 3 hp Stattley Hit and miss engine. In dirty greasy as found condition engine looks complete except for there is no muffler. We pulled the spark plug to check the mag it has nice hot spark. The engine has good compression. The pictures are part of the description. Was owned by my late Grandfather who bought it new from Montgomery Wards in Oakland, CA close to 100 years ago. This engine has been stored in our garage for at least 50 years and has not been started and run for at least that long. The crank & piston along with gear mechanism pull through and the sparkplug and ignition wire was removed and set on the block while pulling the engine through a cycle and there is good spark from the Magneto. Barn fresh from an old collection… 2hp Montgomery Ward Sattley hit and miss engine. It is stuck and has a chunk out of a flywheel hub but a good pair of flywheels on a crankshaft with a belt pulley go with the sale. No other cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see. It is mostly complete but needs some ignition linkage parts and a magneto which are very findable. It has the original muffler. It could be a pretty decent engine with some TLC. Here’s a great chance to get into the hobby with a true hit and miss open crank engine! This engine should be a pretty straightforward project and would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or Sattley display. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it. Early rare Sattley engine made by Field & Brundage. One of a bunch of engines I was planning on fixing/restoring and haven’t got time. They need to go to a good home. No cracks breaks or welds that I can find. Looks to be a recent restoration, It is all original and all complete with parts that have original casting #’s. Big triple bar webster magneto, and it is hot. Has the always missing running speed adjustment on flywheel. I think gas tank may be rebuilt or new/custom. May need new rings/wrist pin, there is compression but there is a lot of blow by- perhaps new rings that arent seated, or a sloppy wrist pin or connecting rod babbit or slightly bent rod. IF you don’t like price, MAKE ME AN OFFER! It is used and very old. It is not going to be in perfect shape. I will be listing more ENGINES & PARTS. Sattley Montgomery Wards 1 1/2 hp stationary hit miss solid flywheel engine dolly runs See pics, I put this away in the barn about 10 years ago, pulled it out a few weeks ago, and tinkered with it for about 5 minutes and was running strong. See where finger is pointing on head, I think this is how they were all cast, but not positive I just don’t want it to be some old repair that I didn’t mention…. Fuel system is cleaned out, spark is strong, compression awesome. Homemade dolly style cart. Great entry level engine. This is an extremely hard to find original ignitor for a Field Brundage or Sattley hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is part number CC15 and fits nearly all sizes of their engines. It mounts with two 1/2 inch holes 3 inches apart on center. Please consult your parts book or measure your engine to be sure it is correct for your appication. It is in great used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. There is very little noticeable wear on the movable shaft, the trip finger or the points! This is a VERY nice ignitor! If you need an ignitor for your engine because yours is missing, broken, or repaired here’s your chance at a pretty nice one. There’s an awful lot of them missing! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it.
