This is a Sattley Montgomery Ward Hit and Miss engine. Its 1 1/2 HP and 550 Speed. It also has a Wico Type EK No 195811. Heres what i was able to find out about it, It was manufactured after 1926 by Nelson Brothers Co. This engine was a barn find. It was on the very back of the building covered in layers of tarps. Even the hopper was filled with antifreeze. It’s got great Compression and Spark, Its completely there and ready to run. Seems like museum quality. I will do my part to help get it to you. Im certain it will start, I’m just not the girl to start it. I uploaded a video of it running! For Sale: early 1920s Sattley 1.5hp hit & miss engine. Engine is a contract engine built by Nelson Brothers. Engine runs well, governor is presently set at 650 RPM. Has a hot Wico EK magneto with clean points, a new condenser, and a new spark plug wire cap. Magneto does have the original brass dust cover over the trip arm. The spark plug wire and the spark plug are also new with less than two hours of run time. Engine comes on custom-built wagon (stained and coated with spar varnish), has Boston gear 20:1 right angle reducer gearbox and a Maid of Honor 4qt. Ice cream maker bucket was cleaned and coated with two coats of spar varnish. Inside of maker is in great condition. Has custom-built ¾ gallon fuel tank under engine. Fuel system has 100% new components. Also comes with Eagle #66 oil can in custom holder mounted behind engine. Oil can has minimal wear and discoloration. I also have a re-print owners & parts manual available for the engine and the magneto. I have more pictures available if requested (may post Flickr album link). It is serial # 59807 the number on the flywheel and tag do match. This belongs to a friend of mine that is downsizing his collection. We have not had this engine running but it appears to have good compression. The ignition system is not original and has a Ford model T coil wired into the system. There is some minor wear in the main, rod and wrist pin bushings. I couldn’t find any cracks or repairs anywhere on the engine. The oiler is missing the needle valve for flow adjustment but otherwise is complete. There is a non original gas tank installed under the carb. Other than the ignition system it appears to be complete and should not require much work to get it running.
