For sale are castings for the Fairbanks Morse Eclipse Engine. It is from Keeley Engine Works. These are 1/2 Scale castings. The flywheels measure 7.5 in diameter. Total weight of the castings is approx 35lbs. There are bunches of drawings and photos that are included. You are getting exactly what is pictured. I’m not sure if it is complete or not, I was told that it is. He was a mechanical engineer. He was described as highly intelligent and a perfectionist. This model hit and miss engine was built by Microedge Machine in Alabama. There is a automotive coil mounted in the base. A 6 volt battery is required for the ignition. The wooden base is made of solid oak and is very substantial. Overall length is 14 1/2″, width is 7 1/2″, and the overall heigth is 10 1/2. The flywheel is 4 1/2 in diameter. 1/3 scale Economy Hit & Miss Engine Casting Kit. Last 3 from the estate of Joe Tochtrop No more to be produced. 11 Aluminum castings 4 cast iron castings- crankshaft, pullet and 2 flywheels as shown Complete Plans with parts / materials list These are the last remaining castings from the Estate of Joe Tochtrop Includes my personal modification for Viton head gasket and piston ring, including parts. Joe was a long time maker of casting kits for various scale model engines. Upon his death I was able to obtain his entire casting conglomeration for his lifelong assortment of various motors. Sorting thru them, I found enough individual castings to able to put together a few complete casting kits for some of his motors. Because some of his casting patterns were lost, this engine in Joe’s configuration will no longer be produced. If you’ve ever wanted to build one of his motors, don’t miss this last opportunity to get an original Joe Tochtrop casting set. I included 3 pictures of this completed casting set from the dozens I have made over the years. As you can see, the finished version of Joes plans are only limited by your imagination. One of my upgrades made over the years was the use of a Viton Quad O-ring for a head gasket and piston ring. I also developed a tapered crank and flywheel plan to ensure straight running flywheels. This kit includes the plan changes for both upgrades, as well as the 2 Viton Quad O-rings you will need. Completed motor is approximately 12 inches long, 7 inches tall with 6 1/2 inch flywheels. Bore is 1 1/8th inch. My personal engines from this kit generally run between 350 and 500 rpm’s. Using the variable speed lever and flyball governor. Iron castings include the Base, Bearing caps, Cylinder head, 2 Flywheels and Crankshaft (not in photo). Bronze castings include Connecting Rod, Governor Weight, Governor cut out Arm, Rocker Arm, and Carb. Aluminum castings include Piston. Full set of drawings showing all details. Current drawings show ignition points that may be hard to obtain and will have to substitute or use Hall effect sensor. Gears are NOT supplied. You can obtain them from Amazon or Boston Gear numbers Y2472 and Y2436. You supply all other materials and machine on your lathe and milling machine and fabricate the necessary parts to assemble a engine that actually runs. Flywheel rough OD 8 7/16 in / Cylinder Bore 1.875 in. Ships in 1 medium and 1 large Flat Rate box.
