303M62 Webster Mag Igniter Bracket for. 1 1/2 HP Goold Shapley & Muir Co. Wendel’s book says this will fit 1 1/2 HP GOOLD SHAPLEY & MUIR. I believe this will also fit a 1 1/2 HP Sandwich. Part is loose with no cracks, breaks or welds that I can see. Mounts to engine with two holes approx. 2 11/16 apart on center. Mag mounting is 1 1/2″ x 2″ 4 bolt pattern for “M” magneto. Fits a 1 1/2 HP Goold, Shapley & Muir and 1 1/2 HP Sandwich. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free to call me with questions. This is an extremely hard to find original Webster magneto ignitor bracket for a 1 1/2hp Vertical Goold Shapley Muir hit and miss gas engine. It will fit the 1 1/2hp engine and possibly others but please measure your engine to be sure it will work for you. It is bracket number 303M34 and seems to be in excellent shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of and even has the original priming cup on it. It mounts with two holes 2 1/4 inches apart on center and the magneto mounts on a 1 1/2 x 2 inch hole pattern. The movable electrode moves nicely with very little wear and the pics show the condition of the points. The advance/retard lever and roller move just as they should with noticeable wear on the roller but this is easy enough to replace. If you need a 1 1/2hp GSM ignitor bracket for any reason here is a very nice one. The pictures tell the story. It would also make a great spare on the shelf. 1 1/2hp Sandwich Cub hit and miss engine with a Gould Shapley Muir tag from Canada. Restoration was started but not finished. Valves have been done but need to be lapped in. I think the engine has new rings. It will need a gas tank plumbed up and the restoration finished. The rocker arm and stand have old repairs and there are a few chipped teeth on the pinion gear but it should be fine with no attention. Has the correct Wico EK magneto on it. Should be a pretty straightforward project. I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to Coolspring, PA, later this month or LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, or Portland, IN, next year. The engine is mechanically in very nice shape, excellent compression. The only welds I can find are on one main bearing cap, and the rocker arm (see pics). There are only a handful of these engines known, so if your looking to add a rare engine to your collection, here is your chance. The Webster magneto is very weak, doesn’t have enough spark to run the engine, so I have been running it with a battery and coil. The single bar Websters lose magnetism over the years more so than the two and three bar, so I’m sure all it needs is a good charge. You can see by looking at the pictures this engine has lots of unique features. The engine seems to run fairly decent for being such a small throttler. Feel free to ask questions!
