Here is a very rare magneto / igniter setup for a Simplicity Gas Engine. This is an early bracket with the highly sought after and rare Podlesak magneto. Or even if you just need a mag, you won’t find them much nicer in barn fresh condition than this. I’ve looked the mag & igniter over and they seem to be in nice original condition. I don’t see anything broken and there are no welds or repairs. The igniter and mag both look nice and greasy & they rotate smoothly. Neither are stuck nor are the worn out. The shafts feel nice and snug. I hooked a meter up to the mag and flipped it with a screwdriver & it moved the needle back and forth. So the coils should be good. It might need a recharge on the magnets, but I think it should work without much more than a good cleanup & lubrication. This is a really nice outfit & I would be very excited to find this if I needed it for my Simplicity engine. 2 7/8 center to center on the mounting holes. This is an extremely hard to find original Webster magneto ignitor bracket for Simplicity hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is in good original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for some chips off of the barrel that goes into the engine cylinder. These should be an easy repair. It is bracket number 303K79 and mounts with two holes 3 inches apart on center. This bracket should fit the 6hp and larger Simplicity/Napoleon/Richardson engines but please measure your engine to be sure it fits your application. The magneto mounts on a 2 inch square pattern so it would take a Webster K or L magneto. Everything moves and functions as it should. There is very mild wear on the movable shaft. If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! Let the pictures be your guide. You won’t be disappointed in any way. Up for sale is a 4 1/2hp simplicity hit and miss gas engine. Engine does run but needs some tinkering to run perfect. On a home built cart. I believe the wood runners are original to the engine. Has the crank guard and correct muffler which are usually missing. Has old repairs to the rocker arm and head (see pictures). It is serial #12508. Would make a good restoration project to make all nice and shiny. I’m located in Two Rivers Wisconsin 54241. Will work with a shipper of your choice if you set it all up and pay for it. This is an original 2hp simplicity hit and miss gas engine built by western malleable and grey iron manufacturing company in milwaukee, wisconsin before they became turner manufacturing company in port washington, wisconsin. It is a very early engine (serial 14xx) and has the battery ignitor ignition not the webster magneto like most of them. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs the i can see or know of and it is in decent condition for it’s age but is loosely assembled and will need finish restoration. Some of the steel parts like the jam nuts and other items have heavy pitting on them from sitting in a damp barn. The castings are all pretty decent but do have some pitting in places as well. The cylinder seems to be in good shape except for the bottom inch that can be seen in the photos. This engine has the original muffler but is missing the fuel mixer and gas tank. The bearings are pretty good in this engine. The teeth on the gears have some pitting but i think they will work the way they are. The engine does have a little original green paint on it and displays pretty nicely. Everything moves as it should except possibly the intake valve and it will need new springs. It has very unusual shaped flywheels which aren’t seen very often on simplicity’s. Overall this should be a pretty straightforward project. This is a rather scarce engine as simplicity’s don’t turn up very often in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’re looking for something different this is certainly it.
