For your consideration is a Reliable Electric Manufacturing Company of Indianapolis Indiana, Auto Sparker or Dynamo. The tag says 1500 rpm, type:S5, No:4079. It was patented July 17 1900, May 23 1901, May 20 1902. It is Hot producing a spark at the time of testing, the proof is shown with a test light in the last picture. The 3/8×1/2 mounting slots are about 4-5/8 on center. The governor seems to function as it should. It may need a new friction drive leather. The top cover is spring loaded as it should be. There is a little play in the bearing but that shouldnt effect its usage. The back bearing plate shows some pitting. Here is a very nice Wizard Type R friction magneto. It is in great shape. I hooked it up to a 12 volt battery and it spun just as it should. Please check out the pictures and see if you need it. For questions 419 789 1159. SPECIAL NOTE: This is friction type generator. This mag is meant to be used with a coil. It is not meant to be able to start an engine but is meant to take the place of the batteries once the engine is running. It in itself will not produce a spark that will jump an air gap. Mounts with 2 holes about 4-7/8 apart on center. About 10″ long, 5-3/4″ wide, and 7-1/2 tall. Weighs about 10-1/2 lbs before any box or packing materials. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. In my opinion this is a great magneto. If you have any questions about how to use it on your engine please ask. Here is a very nice Tritt Electric friction magneto. It is marked VIM. Vim made engines in Sandusky Ohio. It is in good shape. The one side plate that hold the magnets on has a crack but that is just a flat piece of brass, that should not hurt anything at all. Very nice original Motsinger auto sparker generator. It is complete with the governor, drive pulley and base which is missing a lot of the times. Used but in very clean condition. Appears to have the original paint. The field coils are not torn and all hardware is there. Does not appear to have been tinkered with either. Does not appear to have much wear. It turns over but is stiff from hardened oil. Notice the commutator is like new too! These were claimed to be a battery replacement on stationary gas engines. It was driven by the flywheel and at starting rpms, could produce enough voltage to fire the spark or igniter coil. Once the engine was running, the governor would maintain a certain tension against the flywheel to keep the voltage constant on the generator. Cleaned up would make a great display or even better, fit it to that special engine of yours. The sparker weighs about 30 pounds!
