This is an original speed changer and detent assembly for a small Nelson Brothers hit and miss gas engine. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for a well done repair on the lower leg of the fork which can be seen in the pictures which won’t affect its performance. It is from a 1 1/2 or 2hp engine and is part number P-30. This was on a running engine when removed from service. These original parts are quite tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets! If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration or to replace your broken or missing one here’s your chance. The pictures tell the story. It would surely beat making one! No breaks or welds that I can see. Mounts to engine with 2 holes spaced 3 1/2 apart. ZAA28 has 5 1/4 diameter. Gear has 48 angled teeth that are 1/2″ wide and spaced 3/16″ apart. A carburetor with adjustable speed is used. The gnition device is powered by a 4. The most interesting feature is that the speed can be adjusted. Its starting method: manual start by external force. Note: We will test and package each engine after it works normally. Its carburetor isde bugged to the best working position. So it is not recommended to make large adjustments! Check the wiring of the engine from the board, connect the fuel tank pipeline, and install three No 5 batteries 4. Add water to the engine water tank. Use gasoline(95#)to fill the fuel tank. After the filling is completed, turn the flywheel clockwise on the right side of the engine formany turns. Its function can make the mixed fuel fully enter the cylinder. Make sure the fuel pipe No air can be generated. Turn on the power switch and quickly rotate the flywheel clockwise on the right side of the engine to start the engine. If the ignition device is normal and the cylinder compression is normal, if the machine cannot start normally, it is very likely that the carburetor oil needle needs tobe adjusted. After tightening the main oil needle on the carburetor, loosen 1/4 turn and start the flywheel, so that the mixing ratio of gasoline and air can reach the normal working mixing ratio. When the machine is stopped, the power switch should be turned off. Due to the different display and different light, the picture may not reflect the actual color of the item.
