For your consideration is what I believe to be an original Stover CT2 Cooling hopper Funnel number 43K2S for a Hit Miss Stationary Engine. This has the cast clamps #65K2 included. Its about 4-1/2 overall tall without the clamps, the center is about 3-7/8 wide by 6 long for in the hopper. And the outer lip is 4-3/4 by 6-7/8. Found in a dry NJ garage attic, this apparently complete 1931 (likely built in April) 2-2.5HP Stover CT-2 Hit-&-Miss Stationary engine 17″ flywheels with 3″ spur gear will be a nice, likely relatively easy restoration. This DOES have the magneto, assuming it is the expensive. Wico EK but not sure as manuf. Unknown if this is a gas or kerosene but suspect the former. Probably could be switched via new jet size, etc. Block Casting Number 5T3CT2. Turns freely, feels like good compression, but need a good cleaning and re-rusting in the water and fuel tank. Don’t have the time to get running but there are lots of resources out there for these hobby, conversation, and old engine demo pcs. Pick-up from downtown Leonia, NJ, near the George Washington Bridge in the NYC area. Will require two strong individuals, liftgate, or ramp to load, as it’s likely over 200lbs. Old 2 HP Stover Model Y Hit & Miss Engine – not as common. OK compression, hasn’t run in a number of years. Has the large flywheels, nice slow running engine. Has some wear and will need some tinkering / fixin. Head has “economy saver” rod that locks out intake so both valves or locked out during free spin, just needs piece, runs without. Original splash guard which is somewhat rare on these engines. Nice original webster magneto. Small dolley not included, for display purposes. 1-1/2 HP Stover Model KE Hit & Miss Engine. Good compression, hasn’t run in a number of years, but its a good runner. Something fell on the magneto years ago and broke the mag off, but I have a replacement bracket for you see pictures – you will need a magneto. Looks to be original fuel tank, which is somewhat rare on these engines. I also have a splash guard I will include with the engine, may have a starting crank handle as well. Old style 4 HP Stover Model T Hit & Miss Engine. Don’t know much about this engine, was bought a few years ago and never had time to really look at it. I have the original brass engine tag, will include pictures / video soon. I believe these engines were re-rated to 6 HP, they are about the size of a 5 or 6 HP. Needs new babbit on connecting rod, and cap on fuel pump, and some other misc things. Has old repair on head and ignitor trip block, see pictures, they seem to be done well enough. Has 3 original notch cut piston rings, I have brand new rings for back up. Cylinder is in real good shape. We can deliver the engine up to 300 Miles with compensation. Stover 1 1/2 Hp Hit And Miss Engine. Few twist of her tail and away she goes. Needle valve can be a bit touching, but she has a sweet spot. Oiler has zero cracks and works great. Hate to sell her but making room for my 496 stroker big block (517) cu. I have a week spring on the governor just to keep her running nice and slow. No need to run wide open as I don’t work her, just love the way she sounds. Will send a video of it running upon request. Very nice original 1 1/2hp Stover KE hit and miss engine. Excellent compression with valves and seats done. Hot Wico EK magneto, new gas tank, and original filler included. It has the correct muffler on it. The head was repainted at some point and needs some antiquing but luckily the rest of the engine remains untouched with lots of paint to be found under the grease! The gearing and bearings seem to be in great shape. I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. This is an antique Hit or Miss Engine, I’m told this is a Stover CT2 most likely used on a Cement Mixer. Someone else tells me it has a Wico EK magneto. So ask and I will try to find out. This does not seem to have a tag on it. Thanks for the help with identification. More engines will be available.
