His is a running model gasoline engine. It is a two cylinder, four stroke and drives a DC generator which powers a 60 watt incandescent light bulb. The bore and stroke are. 875″ x about 1.125″. The crankshaft throws are 180 degrees apart so it fires and sounds like an old, two cylinder John Deere. The engine has CDI ignition with two 1/4-32 miniature spark plugs. The engine starts and runs well, although it is a model and may require some fiddling from time to time to keep it running well. The flywheel has a brass rim and is 6 diameter. Overall dimensions including the base are 16″ long x 6″ wide x 7.5 high. The base is made from Walnut and baltic birch plywood. This engine is not hit n miss, it has a carburetor with a throttle. Up for sale is a really super nice and rare circa 1890 Ames Iron Works stationary steam engine. The engine is rated at 10 horse power. It has a absolutely amazing 2 inch gardener governor. Nothing on the engine is stuck, seized or broken. The engine looks completely original and intact and unmolested! It has a nice large pulley (I believe its 2 foot diameter). It has a tag from General Machinery in Philadelphia which is most likely the place where it was originally installed. I can hold the engine for an extended period of time. To anyone that was wondering: The photos were taken when I had the engine at a local show. That’s the reason for all of the stuff noticeable in the background. Very nice side crank bottle steam engine , older restoration, runs very smooth nothing broken bent or repaired , except the governor looks a little repaired or pieced together it is a one of a kind, but works well, can’t remember where it came from. The engine has no name plate, plate holes or any id. But i think it is a james beggs engine or at least design.
