Here is a very nice looking Sumter Jr magneto. It produces a very nice spark and has only a very minimal amount of wear. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. SPECIAL NOTE: This is a low tension magneto, it is meant to work with an igniter and will not produce at spark that will jump an air gap. It will not work with a spark plug. The spark it produces can be observed by rubbing a wire from the terminal against the case of the mag while turning the shaft. It does have to be timed to the engine. All brass case and base. 3/8 shaft for gear mounting. The mounting holes have perfect threads. Only very minimal wear. I think this mag is ready to start and run your engine. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. In my opinion this is a great magneto. If you have any questions about how to use it on your engine please ask. Don’t be a clown and tear it all apart and then try to return it when you can’t get it to work. Thanks for looking at this listing! One of just a few known 7hp Steiner Long Life engine built in Plymouth, WI. Hit and miss engine with unusual design… Headless, governor weights inside the flywheel, and ignitor trips on the pull stroke of the push rod. Engine is in great shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of other than the tab for the choke plate on the mixer. Sumter B gear driven magneto as seen. Muffler, gear guard and crank guard are excellent fabrications. Sitting on a large Jacob Haish engine truck that rolls well. Engine has great compression and was run a few years ago. I haven’t tried it but see no reason it wouldn’t run. Original tag is missing but info is on the handmade plaque. Serial number is on the end of the crankshaft. If you’re looking for something different here it is. This engine has indirect connections to John Lauson’s engines and has very nice and similar lines to them. I can deliver for free to Coolspring, PA, Baraboo, WI, or Portland, IN, later this year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it’s paid for. Here is a Sumter B low tension brass body magneto. It is in absolutely excellent condition in my opinion. Please take a look at the pictures and see if you need it. SPECIAL NOTE this is a low tension mag and will not fire a spark plug! It is meant to be used with an igniter. The spark on a mag like this will not jump an air gap! I tested this mag by visually assessing the spark it produced while rubbing a bare wire against the body of the mag while turning the shaft. Brass Body, Brass Base. The bearings seem perfectly nice and tight, no wear! 2 x 2 Mounting pattern, the threads look really good. Tapered shaft for gear mounting, the taper is about 15/32″ to 19/32″. I try to list items very accurately but my opinions on condition may differ from yours. This item in a complex antique electronic mechanical unit. Please don’t act like a cave man and send me emails grunting “my friend mag guy says need rebuilt you pay he bill” or “I took apart now no fire I send back”. Most items will go out faster though. Mag is in good condition and ready to use. Leaving the mag with original patina, new owner can shine up if desired. “Bosch NR ED-1 VI”. Mounting holes are 2″ x 2″ center to center. Threaded mounting holes have good threads. Has a round glass spot on top where you can see the armature spin. Same as a Sumter B. I recharged the magnets to make sure it was at full strength. Bench tested and HOT mag. Lights up a test light nice and bright when spun by hand. Guaranteed to be a HOT mag. This is a low tension mag meaning it is for use with ignitors and not high tension (spark plug).
