Here is an original fuel tank that is for a 2hp or 3hp Famous Vertical engine engine. It seems to be in very good shape. One of the fuel lines appears to have been broken off and will need to be removed from its fitting but that should be easy to do. The tank seems very solid. Here is a very stout and impressive 9hp Ideal vertical tank cooled hit and miss engine. This may be the largest ignitor fired Ideal still alive from the limited research I’ve done. It is in great shape and was restored many years ago and shown locally. Everything turns and interacts as it should and it has good compression. It has an extremely well done homemade fuel pump on it. The ignitor and trip linkage has some repairs on them but there are no other cracks, breaks, or repairs on it that I can see or know of. It is unique in that it pulls down to trip the ignitor. It has 3 3/8 x 30 flywheels on it and is very impressive when standing near it. It has a belt drive water pump which (I’m not sure) looks to be original and a very nicely done stainless steel screen cooler. The original name tag is missing but you can clearly see where it was. Currently it has a homemade stamped brass tag with the information on it. It is on a homemade drop cart that isn’t the fanciest but surely makes moving it easier! I haven’t tried to run it but I doubt it would take very much to make noise. I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to Coolspring, PA, next week, or LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. It can be picked up here and I will help load it. This is a new old stock fuel tank for a Lauson or Alpha DeLaval hit and miss gas engine. I acquired several of these NOS tanks from a descendant of a fella that worked in the John Lauson sheet metal shop and was told to destroy them after Lauson was bought out. Instead they made their way home with him. I have a few different sizes but limited quantities of each. This one measures about 4 x 7 x 24 inches long. It is painted just the way it was in the factory with the exposed part being red. It would work as a gas tank for any engine you’d prefer to use it on. It has a few very minor dings or small dents from it’s near death experience in the metal dumpster but it is new and has never had fuel in it. It was originally for a duel fuel engine and has a small compartment in the front for starting gas that’s plumbed with the outlet on the opposite end of the tank. It needs one neck soldered on and also a cap. Other than these additions and some minimal cleaning it should be ready to be used on your project. Here is an original fuel tank that I think is correct for a 6hp or 8hp Associated engine. It is in pretty good shape but it does have a small hole in the bottom that will need repaired. It seem very solid. The cap doesn’t seem to be original, it fits but not perfect. The white spots on the top appear to be paint, they should come off easy with a little stripper. Here is a very hard to find original casting kit for the Coles Power Models tank cooled hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition and ready to be adopted by your model shop. It has 6 flywheels and looks to be complete with all of the castings and gears. I believe these kits were discontinued around 20 years ago so they’re pretty tough to find. I’m pretty sure the prints can be found online or in the model community fairly easily. These are well engineered models that run great when assembled.
