Associated or United magneto for hit miss engine. Mag is in good condition and ready to use. Leaving the mag with original patina, new owner can shine up if desired. Mag fits all the Associated engines that have the 4 bolt mag bracket. BRASS mag that is very solid to use. Threads are all in good shape. Lights up a 12 volts test light by hand nice. I recharged the magnets to make sure it was at full strength. 2 3/4′ X 2 3/4 mounting spacing. Guaranteed to be a HOT mag. I also have some 4 bolt mag brackets available too, just ask. If you don’t see a part you need listed, good chance I have it and haven’t gotten around to it yet so just check with me. Like I said I have done this a long time and try to list everything accurately to explain all the good and the bad. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper, I won’t take it back. United Hit Miss Gas Engine Vintage Antique. Flywheel Farm Motor 1 3/4 hp. Here is a nice old 1 3/4 horse power United Farm Engine. I have included many photos to show its nice solid barn fresh condition. I have not tried to run it. The engine has good compression. The flywheels run true, with no wobble. I do not see any cracks or welds. It will need a gas tank. I don’t think it will take much to get it running. It will make a nice addition to your collection. This is a pretty nice older restoration 4 1/2hp United Type A hit and miss gas engine. It is a very early engine (serial 400124). It was restored back in the 1970′s and seems to have most of the original paint underneath. It is in excellent mechanical condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. It has good compression even after sitting for a few decades. There is very little wear on the engine as the gears are nice and square and bearings all seem to be tight. The flywheels run true. It has the correct early style head and mixer on it along with the original muffler. The gas tank is homemade and has a pinhole in it but should be an easy repair or replacement. It is on a factory subbase which is quite uncommon. It is on a large wheeled (2 1/2 inch face wheels) Electric Wheel cart which I believe is correct for it. It was also used under many other manufacturers engines. It has the original handle and rolls nicely. I haven’t run the engine but It should only take some fresh gas and a battery to make it run. I can deliver it for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. It can also be picked up here. The pictures tell the story. The bigger United engines don’t come along that often so don’t miss it. This is an old United Engine Company Hit and Miss motor. The tag says it’s 4 1/2 horsepower and it looks like a Type F, but that is hard to read. I don’t know much about this, but it is big and heavy. I don’t know what parts are missing. If you need certain parts and not the whole engine make me an offer on the parts you need. This will need to be picked up in Oxford, MI, 48371. I can get a forklift to load it in a truck or trailer during the day. I try to describe my items as accurately as possible. Most of my items come from estates. Remember that most of the items I sell have had a previous life some better than others. What that means is there might be some imperfections or the item will need cleaning. Do not hesitate to ask questions. I will reply as soon as possible.
