This engine is similar to Maytag engines. I was informed by a knowledgeable person that this one of the earliest utili-motors made. It has a split crank case which dates it to 1927-28, making it a first year engine, and it has a very low serial number. The engine turns over with compression and it does have spark. I actually had it running, but the carburetor was covered with epoxy/goo and it started leaking fuel, so I peeled off the goop to investigate and the carburetor pretty much fell apart. There is also a small crack in the foot pedal, but I kicked it over several times and it still works fine, could be replaced. Other then that this seems to be a good engine, in pretty good condition.
