This is a 2hp Domestic Mud Pump Outfit. I restored this engine less than a year ago. Everything was disassembled, cleaned, and refinished using professional materials. The head was cracked when I bought the engine so I hired a company who specializes in cast-repairs to make a professional repair. The engine runs great and the diaphragm pump is ready to go with all new gaskets. I rebuilt the mag with new points and springs and the spark is very strong. This is my 3rd Domestic restoration and I’m ready to move on to my next project so it’s up for sale. Located in NE Ohio 44404. Take a look at the video, it was recorded before I had much time to fine tune the mixer and timing. I’ve probably ran the engine 2 hours since the restoration and it never skips a beat. If you have any questions please ask, I have about 50 photos of the engine so let me know if there’s something you’d like to see. The video can be found on youtube by searching: “2hp Domestic Hit Miss Sideshaft Engine with Diaphragm Pump” Thanks and have a great day. The item “Domestic Hit Miss Engine. ½ Scale Running Model Reproduction of a Domestic Side Shaft Antique Hit and Miss Engine. It’s a NICE one! Here are the details on this engine. The engine itself, minus the wooden base is 15 inches long from the tip of the make brake ignition shaft to the fuel fill at the back of the engine. It’s about 11 wide from the outside of the pulley to the end of the crankshaft on the other side. It stands about 16tall from the bottom of the wooden stand to the top of the drip oilier. On the paint job. The cast block was smoothed out so the paint gives a nice smooth appearance. I do not know the year this one was made, but I can tell you that it does have the original paint job on it. There are a few small areas where the paint chipped and was touched up. Mainly around the flywheel hubs and around the head bolts and the area where the make brake contact assembly bolts on to the block. On the color of the engine…. Some of the photos needed to be taken with the flash on in my camera to show detail. All the flash photos make the engine look more red in color than it really is. I think the posted video taken outside in natural light shows the most accurate color. It is a dark brownish type of red, not a bright red like some of the flash photos make it look. The wooden base measures 29 inches long x 7 inches wide and. The flywheels measure 9 inches in diameter. It weighs around 55 lbs. Many hours of machine work, paint work, polishing, assembly, adjusting and testing goes into producing a high quality scale model like this. A lathe, milling machine, drill press, lots of tools and an experienced operator were needed to finish the rough castings and to fabricate the additional parts required. Having to pay someone for all of the machine work and fabrication involved would cost quite a bit! Whats included in this sale: You get the engine as pictured on the wooden stand. What is NOT included: The original 6 volt jell cell battery that I could not get to charge or the white wire I show in the video connected to the battery I used. There is room in the ignition box next to the low tension coil for a small 6 or 12v battery. DO NOT use a Lithium type battery. Either a jell cell, dry cell, Nicad or Nimh should be used. Here is a web link that will take you to the video of this engine running. This is the main ingredient, and possibly the only one in Coleman lantern fuel. I did add a couple of drops of castor oil in with the fuel for upper cylinder lubrication. You can use any high quality two cycle oil. Just go sparingly and keep it around 50:1 at the most. It has, what is called a Make Brake ignition system. How this system works is that there are contact points inside of the combustion chamber. The points close roughly at the bottom of the compression stroke. While the points are closed, the included hand made scale, low tension coil charges with electricity from either a 6 or 12 volt battery. (A battery is not included in this sale) Once the points open at the top of the compression stroke, the voltage in the coil is quickly discharged causing a spark at the contact points and that is what fires the compressed fuel air mixture. The part that you put in a drill is 1/2 (0.500) in diameter so you will need a drill with a ½ inch chuck. After taking the video of this engine running, I installed a scale globe type gate valve for a fuel shut off. (that is shown installed in some of the above photos) Since the fuel tank is in the engine block this is a gravity fed fuel system. When filled with fuel and not running, some fuel would seep out around the fuel mixers adjustment needle. Since you do NOT want to use the mixture needle as a fuel shut off, I added one. On the mixture setting that worked best for me, it started right up with the mixture needle turned out slightly less than ½ a turn as I show in the video. It was a cool winter day when I ran it so the setting that works best for you might be different. One note on the contact points for the ignition. The shaft that rotates the one contact for the points is spring loaded. There is a spring on the shaft. Since this sticks out at the front of the engine. It is possible when you are carrying this engine to push that spring loaded shaft in. This will not hurt anything, but if that shaft also rotates slightly it will not spring back into its position and the points will not make contact and work correctly. When this happens simple push in on the spring loaded shaft and rotate them back into position. Should you need to remove the points for cleaning, this can be easily done by removing one spring, take off the positive wire that is bolted to the one contact point stud and take out the two brass bolts with a 3/8 socket. I needed to grind down the end of the socket a bit to make it a super thin wall socket on the end so it fit over the one brass bolt head. When apart, make sure the contact area of the points line up and lay flat against each other. Remember when putting the wire back on, be careful not to make it so tight that you turn that stud because if you do the points will no longer lay flat against each other. You will note that there is a small O ring around the inner nut. This is to prevent any external spark ark between the shaft spring and that nut because they are close to each other. That would cause a misfire or possibly keep the engine from starting. Reapply a super thin layer of silicone form a gasket when putting the point assembly back on the engine and DO NOT over-tighten the two brass bolts. Remember they are just brass. And DO NOT put any silicone on those bolts as that could prevent that assembly from being electrically grounded to the engine block. I used 10-30 wt. Oil in the drip oilier. Make sure it’s turned on and dripping every once and a while. Put oil on everything that rubs against something!! There are many small oil holes located on this engine. There are spring loaded brass covers that cover oil cups for the crank shaft on the block. There is a hole on the connecting rod end for oil and oil the piston wrist pin plus put some oil on the exposed bottom part of the piston when its at bottom dead center. If it moves, oil it! Yes it will get dirty running it, just like the full scale engines do. The photos for this ad were taken after it was run for the video. I spent a afternoon cleaning everything up. I check my emails often and will respond in a timely manor. All sales are final as I will not accept a return on a item like this. NOTE: This is a running reproduction of a antique engine. It is a adult collectable item and is intended to be used by a experienced adult. Just like the original engine, it has no safety guards in place. Loose clothing, long hair or fingers could become caught in any moving part when this engine is running or even being turned over by hand. Use commonsense and keep your fingers especially small fingers! Away from all moving parts! I make no guarantees or clams as to how it will run for you or even if you would be able to get it started. Some mechanical knowledge and experience is needed to run any antique model engine like this. I have clear photos posted of this engine and I have a video posted showing it running. You should have some knowledge of a engine like this, like how to maintain it, keep it lubricated and adjust it if necessary as I provide no instructions other than what is in my videos and written in this ad. No guarantees of any kind are included with a custom hand made, adult hobby item like this. This item was listed on Thursday 2-22-17. After it’s packed I will update this part of my ad and list the package details here. I don’t like to pack in advance in case someone wants to see a photo that I do not have posted or want to know something about the item I need to check on. But when I have a chance in the next week after listing, it will be packed. I know I will be unscrewing the drip oiled for packing because it sticks up above the top of the block. I will start with wrapping the engine in stretch plastic wrap for paint protection. A thin layer of bubble-wrap then cover everything tightly in HD cardboard. That will then be wrapped in heavy duty bubble wrap. More details will be posted here like the container size and weight once everything is packed up. This is a reproduction gas powered scale model engine that comes with no instructions or guarantees what so ever!! Do not stick your finger or other body parts in a rotating mechanical assembly!! The new owner assumes all responsibilities and liabilities to himself/herself and others with this engine. This is an adult collectible item not to be operated or played with by children. I make no clams to it being safe as it is a antique scale model reproduction produced back in the day when no safety guards, air bags, safety warning labels, ect.. Were attached to dangerous products. I make no claims that it will even run as some might not have the mechanical ability to figure it out. By purchasing this item you are stating that you have read my whole ad, you understand it and that you agree with the terms and policy’s stated in this ad. I have detailed photos posted. A link is in this ad that shows this engine running. Thank you for looking!! Should you have any questions, please ask. Thank you for looking! This engine was found in northern Michigan many years ago by the man I bought it from. It is mounted on a heavy set of trucks with a nice tongue. This engine is in almost new condition mechanically, the compression is incredible, with zero blow by. The engine is very easy to start even with the super compression by using the intake valve, I can show the next owner how easy this engine is to start. Both flywheels run perfectly true and have no issues. The ignition is by battery and buzz coil (and spark plug), which is a very reliable system. Has a nice working oiler. Another great thing about this engine, is that there are NO cracks, breaks or welds. It is also a rare version in the fact that it has the kerosene burning attachment, which is currently the needle valve that is being used to run the engine. The gas tank is not original but certainly serves the purpose fine. The muffler is also not a Witte muffler, it’s an Economy muffler and looks and works just as good. Has the original nameplate. Pulley is small, but I guess is better than having no pulley at all. With the condition this engine is in, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s putting out more horse power than the 12 that it’s rated. This engine is ready to hit the shows or put in a full days work. Please watch the video below and see for yourself. Very strong firing, nice coasting engine with zero bad clunks or noises. This is not a small engine! If you have been looking for a big, early hit and miss to take to the shows this would certainly fit that bill. Coil included , all you will need is a 12 volt battery and some gas and oil! Please feel free to ask any questions. We are located 100 miles north of Detroit, and 35 miles east of Saginaw. This engine is mechanically and cosmetically in nice shape. Compression is good, and all moving parts show normal wear. The only thing this engine is missing is the nameplate, but the serial number is on the end of the crank, so a new tag could be correctly stamped very easy. Serial number is #8067. The engine is mounted on a decent set of hardwood skids, and even has a battery box, you just need to drill the holes for your wires. The engine starts and runs excellent. Hits good and strong once and coats as it should. This engine is ready to work, or just show. The engine could use a new wrist pin and bushing, as you can hear in the video there is some wrist pin clunk, just a normal thing most old engines could use. Very nice working ball check oiler. Only weld I can see on this engine is the tab on the flywheel where the governor spring bolt sets in, it’s not a weld I would worry about in the least bit. Paint may or may not be original, I will let you be the judge. Flywheels run perfectly true. Gas tank is built into the base and there are no gas leaks, or water leaks anywhere. Please see video below and feel free to ask questions. Battery and coil not included. VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING. Bungie straps in the video are only to hold the engine from falling off the truck. The engine is also equipped with the original Monitor clutch pulley, which works just as it should. The serial number of the engine is #13331. This engine is as untouched and unmolested as you will find. It is sitting on the factory cart which is in excellent shape with no repairs, it still even has the original wood pull handle! The engine is mechanically excellent, compression is about as close to perfect as you will find. The original paint and pin-striping on the engine is still very nice, I would say this engine retains 80% of its original paint. The lid for the battery box is also missing. The only other very minor thing to mention, is somebody put a tin cover over the hopper opening to prevent splashing, which I removed, but they drilled and tapped two holes to secure the tin. It would be very easy to thread a couple bolts into the holes and grind them flush (or just leave the holes as they are). Other than those three very minor things, this engine is about as nice as you would want to find an engine in its work clothes. Has a nice working, correct ball check oiler on it. I ran the engine for over 8 straight hours today with no issues! Gas tank has no leaks, and there are no water leaks either. This engine even has the original splash shield on it yet, and original built in crank handle! Very unique engine with a rocker arm that operates both the intake and exhaust valves. This engine is show ready. Feel free to ask questions. This engine can be picked up here for no charge, we are 100 miles north of Detroit. I have for you a rare 1910 Fairbanks Morse 1hp Jack Jr hit miss gas engine. These engines do not come up for sale very often. Most change hands without anyone ever knowing about them. This engine runs real well. Only crack break or weld I have found is a chip out of the piston. It does not affect how the engine runs. It has an older restoration but shows well. Gas tank hold gas and has no leaks. Has the original fuel filled with drain and original plumbing to the carburetor. Has the original choke and carb. Also the original crank guard. It does not have the original muffler but I’m sure someone is reproducing them. Has real nice old probably original skids. The cart it is sitting on is NOT included. This is a ready to run engine. All you need is a battery, coil, and gas. No oiler in video but I will include one with the engine. I can crate it for 75 extra. I can also deliver to Portland IN swap meet in a couple weeks free of charge. Please ask any and all questions you may have. Thanks for looking and happy hunting. I have a 1hp Root Vandervoort Triumph line hit miss gas engine. It has a very nice older restoration. It does have some small chipping to the paint and some under coating showing through. It is a beautiful running engine. Does have reproduction brass governor weights but I think they add to the look of the engine. Only Crack, Break, weld I have found is an old repair to the rocker arm stand. These don’t come up near as often as their larger counterparts. It is missing the original crank guard but has original muffler. Nice striping and decals. Don’t miss your chance to own one of these little engines. Great size for showing. If you want it crated it will be 75. I can also deliver to Portland IN swap meet free of charge. Please ask any and all questions you may have. Thanks for looking and happy hunting! The engine is in really nice shape mechanically, starts easy on the magneto and will run all day long. I have only owned the engine about a week, and I have ran it probably no less than 15 hours. Runs so good I just let it run all day. There are no cracks, breaks or welds anywhere on this engine that I have been able to find. Fuel pump looks and works like new, this engine never has trouble keeping the gas level right up there in the carb. NO gas or water leaks anywhere. No knocks, clunks, or bad noises with this engine. Governor works perfectly, if you put a load on it, she’ll snap right to it. Original nameplate and original muffler. Pulley isn’t correct but works just as good. Original crankcase breather, and original key guard. No starting crank, but I start it just by spinning the flywheels by hand. Great working original ignitor. There really isn’t anything on this engine you can knock, it’s a real good example of a 1hp Mogul. Whoever ends up with will be quite happy. Ready for the shows. You can also pick it up here no charge, we are 100 miles north of Detroit. The item “GREAT RUNNING 1HP IHC MOGUL ENGINE HIT & MISS FARM (WITH VIDEO) L@@K” is in sale since Thursday, August 04, 2016. This engine is in excellent mechanical condition, and is equipped with the factory, high tension magneto setup. Compression is very good. Mag produces a good spark. Engine starts and runs very well, as you can see in the video. Only flaw with the engine is about a 1/8 or less wobble on the pulley side flywheel. The flywheel is in great shape and nice and tight on the crank, I see nothing wrong, it will never give you any trouble. The air shroud is a nice handmade reproduction and looks nice. There are NO cracks, breaks or welds on this engine that I can find. Not many New Way Jewels out there especially with the magneto. Would make a great addition to any collection. Comes with a good working starting crank (not original). We are 100 miles north of Detroit. This engine belongs to a good friend, just down the road. I know this engine very well as I have owned it myself in the past. The item “GREAT RUNNING 1 1/2HP NEW WAY JEWEL HIT & MISS GAS ENGINE L@@K! (WITH VIDEO)” is in sale since Thursday, July 21, 2016. This model is in great shape, I believe these were made in the late 80′s or early 90′s for a short time. Everything seems to be in working order, no cobbled parts, everything is just how it should be. Buzz coil and gas tank are mounted underneath the skid. Just hook your battery to the terminals on the top by the on/off switch which also works great. I had it running for about a half hour yesterday, both on gas and propane. Runs on both but I prefer propane myself. Nice high quality model to set on the shelf, or take to the shows. Comes with the propane regulator and hose you can see in video. This model doesn’t have many hours on it. Could use some minor adjusting here or there but for the most part it’s show ready. Bare metal parts are nice and shiny, no rust.
