This engine is in excellent original shape, has quite a lot of original paint on it yet. It is in just as good of condition mechanically, compression is excellent, virtually no wear on the moving parts, flywheels run true etc…. There is not one bad thing I can say about this engine other than it’s missing the muffler, and gas tank, in the video I’m just feeding it gas with a squirt can. The pulley on it, is the factory pulley that came with it. Has a nice ball check Lonergan oiler on it that works perfect. It is mounted on a nice thick, hardwood Ash plank that really looks nice under it. Nameplate is original and in good shape. This engine comes with a nice HOT buzz coil! Carburetor is correct and works as it should. Like I said there is nothing bad about this engine, hits nice and strong, and coasts really nice for such a small engine. There are no bad clunks or knocks when it’s running, and no cracks breaks or welds anywhere on this engine that I can find. Has a really old collectible spark plug in it, that goes with the engine. Hopper holds water fine, no leaks. Take a look at the pictures and decide for yourself, these Handy Andy engines are quite hard to find, and pricy when you do find one. This engine has been restored, with a quick brush on paint job, I can tell for sure, there is a lot of original paint under the red paint job. It is mounted on a nice set of skids. The engine is all complete including the original muffler and pulley, and correct brass “tea pot” carburetor. The only weld I can find on the engine is on the fuel pump plunger arm, (see picture where weld is circled). Compression is very good, and the engine is one of the easiest starting you could hope to ask for. Both flywheels have the Ideal name cast into them. These early ignitor fired Ideals, are very few and far between. It has the original brass nameplate. Good hitting, long coasting engine, that you definitely don’t see every day! Fuel pump works great, gets the gas right up to the carburetor with no trouble. If your looking for a hard to find engine to add to your collection, here it is, just needs a new home and a show to take it to. Comes with the starting crank you see me using in the video. These engines were used to pump water from shallow wells, to storage tanks for home, farm or business. This engine was found in a Michigan barn in 1967 or 68 by another collector (who I got it from), and he NEVER ran it once, so theres a good chance this engine hadn’t run since the 1950′s. All I have done is trip the old paint job off, and run some new gas lines, and clean out the fuel pump. There are two welds on the engine, one is on the pump itself, and one is on the water jacket of the engine (see pictures). The only other minor issue, is a small chip out of the muffler, which isn’t original, but works fine. Engine has good compression, and everything works as it should. I have never attempted to pump water with it, but I’m sure it doesn’t need much if anything to start pumping water. These Kewanee engines are few and far between, and they are quite early I would guess just before 1910. Lots of monkey motion on this engine, that is really nice to watch! There is no gear growling on any of the gears, or bad noises of any kind, with the exception of a little wrist pin clunk which most engines have. Has the original cast brass nameplate which a lot of these engines are missing. This engine needs nothing but a new home, and some shows to display it at. There are not many early, vertical ignitor Jumbo’s floating around, that’s for sure! The engine is totally complete, including the muffler, pulley, and I have a reproduction crankguard that goes with it as well. The engine has very nice compression and the Webster mag is nice and HOT. You can see some really early characteristics on this engine that were soon changed on later Jumbo engines, like the pushrod holder is just a cavity in the rocker arm itself, working with the double spring on the exhaust valve, to hold the pushrod in place. Speed changer works great, this engine will run at rated working speed, or just idle for play by changing the lever back or forth. This engine has no grease cups on the mains, it has oil troughs, another early feature. It also has a dry head. Skids are original to the engine, and in good shape. Nice ball check oiler. The only non correct thing on the engine is the gas tank which is from a Briggs engine, but it works great. Nice original green paint all over the engine, and plenty of grease too. Starting crank is built in the flywheel. This engine needs NOTHING except a new home, gas, oil, and a show to take it to. Nice unpainted original engines like this are few and far between. This engine has been restored probably 20 years ago, and is in excellent condition. The skids under this engine are original and in perfect shape, the gas tank is also in very good shape, with no leaks or repairs. This engine even has the original tin crank guard, and pressed steel pulley. The Sumter magneto is nice and HOT, and I put a brand new base on it, from Rudy Adrian’s Magneto. There are NO cracks, breaks or welds on this engine that I can find. Flywheels run true and compression is very strong. It even has the original nameplate still on the head. If you have been looking for a plug oscillator Fairbanks to add you your collection, they don’t get much better than this one! I can store this engine for up to 6 months or until you come get it, we are 100 miles north of Detroit. (engine runs better once it gets really warm). The engine is mechanically in very nice shape, excellent compression. The only welds I can find are on one main bearing cap, and the rocker arm (see pics). There are only a handful of these engines known, so if your looking to add a rare engine to your collection, here is your chance. The Webster magneto is very weak, doesn’t have enough spark to run the engine, so I have been running it with a battery and coil. The single bar Websters lose magnetism over the years more so than the two and three bar, so I’m sure all it needs is a good charge. You can see by looking at the pictures this engine has lots of unique features. The engine seems to run fairly decent for being such a small throttler. Feel free to ask questions! The only flaws with the engine are, the head is welded, rocker arm is homemade, mag bracket is brazed, and the pulley side flywheel has a very slight (probably 1/8) wobble which effects nothing. This engine runs very good, and has excellent compression. Has the original belt pulley, also has the original nameplate. Crankgaurd looks to be correct as well. The 3 bar Webster magneto is nice and HOT, never fails to start the engine. Gas tank has no leaks. Muffler is not correct but works fine. Carburetor works just as it should, and doesn’t slobber gas like most do. I ran this engine for over 2 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. These Acadia engines are few and far between, especially in this small of a size. This engine is ready to hit the shows, need absolutely nothing. Feel free to ask questions! The carburetor is not correct but works great, probably better than the correct carb, it’s an Essex which is quite a hard carburetor to find. This engine runs just as good as it looks. ONLY damage is one chipped fin on the head, hardly worth mentioning. This engine has been totally gone through by the last owner, new gas tank, new knife switch, new ignition wires, new battery box, new leather fan belt, new check valve, new nameplate, new fan, rebuilt ignitor, valve job, custom made platform on wheels to make moving the engine very easy, and I’m sure more things were done I’m not aware of. Paint job still looks great, flawless pinstriping. Absolutely no detent hammering, and the compression is very good. This engine is perfectly in time, both ignition and valve timing. Comes with a nice, hot, low tension coil that you can see in the video. This engine is ready for the shows, all you need is a 6 or 12 volt battery and some gas. Feel free to ask questions! The engine is mounted on a nice set of Fairbanks gas engine trucks, which I believe this engine has been on it most, if not all of it’s life. The engine has good compression, and starts right up every single time on the first crank after choke. The magneto on this engine is super hot, you don’t need to spin the engine super fast to get it going like most JD engines. The ONLY weld is on the bottom of the water jacket, right where most every JD engine is welded. The weld is a nice job and doesn’t leak, the water leaking you see in the video is coming from the worn out drain fitting. Both flywheels run perfectly true. It has the original flat belt pulley, the muffler however isn’t original but works just fine. Speed adjuster works just as it should, and so does the governor, this engine is ready to work, or play. If your looking for an engine in it’s work clothes that’s easy starting and will run all day, this is it. The engine is perfectly in time, runs smooth, coasts good, and is ready to hit the shows this summer and fall! Please see pictures and video, and decide for yourself. This engine is in perfect shape mechanically, good holding compression, virtually no wear on the moving parts etc.. I have owned this engine a couple times over the years, and I always debate keeping it since it’s so nice. I didn’t do it myself because the welded one works just fine, and maybe the new owner will want to leave it alone. Good original gas tank with no leaks, and correct muffler. The thing you see by the flywheel hub is just the key gib head, both flywheels are good, with no cracks or issues, and they both run straight as an arrow. This engine is perfectly in time, runs smooth, coasts good, and is ready to hit the shows this summer and fall! Please see pictures and video, and decide for yourself.
