This is an original cast iron piston and rod for an Alamo, Rock Island, Empire, Cockshutt, or other Alamo-built hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. The rod has a part number of 5943. The piston is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and the center to center from the wrist pin to the crankshaft journal is about 15 inches. I would say this is for about a 4-5 hp engines. If you know what size it fits please educate me. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. The babbitt bearing looks to be in good shape as well. The wrist pin moves but is very stiff. The original rings are in it and may be usable but I’ll leave that up to the new owner. The rod cap is on it as well. Please measure your engine to be sure it works for your application. These original parts are quite tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets! If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration or to replace your broken or repaired one here’s your chance. The pictures tell the story. It would surely beat making them!
