This is a real nice original 4-feed mechanical oiler or lubricator for an early gas engine, tractor, or other piece of machinery. These had many applications in the early industrial world. It is ratchet drive from one end as can be seen. It was made by Detroit Lubricator Company has a cast iron body. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for the top glass. It is fresh from an old farm shop where it sat on the shelf for several decades! It is stuck but I’m sure it is just dried up and needs to be take apart and cleaned. These Detroits are much easier to work on than the Madison Kipps! It has the original filler plug and flat sight window and mounts on a 4 3/8 x 5 5/8 inch pattern. The case measures about 5 x 8 inches and is about 7 inches tall overall. Overall it is about 10 inches long. It has the original serial tag on the front. These Detroit oilers are extremely difficult to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up and it probably won’t be this nice. With just a few winter hours in the woodstove-heated workshop I’d be willing to bet this would be a really nice, working oiler. I can be reached at 262 573 1931 if you’d like to talk about it.
