This is a Maytag twin cylinder engine, serial number 837… It was made in late 1937, in the first few months of twin cylinder production. It still has much of its original dark green paint and decals from when it was manufactured in the Maytag factory in Newton, IA. It would be a shame to paint this one up. The original washer designation is still legible on the cation decal which states it was used with the model 11X washing machine. Today I took it from the barn and went through it with a basic cleanup. Removed the fuel tank and ignition and cleaned it thoroughly, I reassembled it and lubricated it inside and out, put fuel mix in the tank and started it up and ran it for a few minutes. There are no cracks or breaks I can see. It seemed to run pretty good and I have a video of it running.
