This is a super nice original 1 inch Leader governor made in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is very unusual as it is a horizontal design. I can’t remember ever seeing another one exactly like it. Governors like this were commonly used on steam engines as well as a few gas engines. I think this style governor was used on Marinette traction engines and probably a few others. It is in excellent used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It has VERY little noticeable wear on the gears or on the shaft. Everything seems to move as it should. The 1 inch pipe threads are in excellent condition. It stands about 10 inches tall and about 13 inches long overall. I would say it is ready to be used on an engine or put on the shelf for a spare. These original governors are extremely tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and they usually need a rebuild of some sort. It’s ready to go to work. If you’ve been looking for one to complete a project, restoration, or for a scale model don’t miss your chance on this one. It would be tough to find a nicer one! The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way. The item “Old 1 LEADER Steam Engine Tractor Governor UNUSUAL Hit Miss Gas Oiler NICE” is in sale since Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
