Early old hit and miss gas engine. This engine appears to be about a 2 1/2 hp and is very complete, there is no mag, the bottom side of the hopper is cracked (Jack Frost got to it), the head and valves are very rusty, the governor is made of pot metal and the bracket is badly deteriorated, the flywheels look to be true when it is spun over, the piston has been removed and is rusty. This engine does have some part numbers (as pictured), with the letters “BL”. Take a close look at the pictures. Any help identifying this engine would be greatly appreciated! This engine was found in a scrapyard where I work about 2 months ago, I had intended to restore this engine but I do not have the time and patience for it at this time. If you have any questions, please let me know. This engine is located about 30 minutes north of St. Paul, MN sitting in my parents barn. This engine is an early R&V, Root & Vandervoort. The flywheels measure 14 1/4″ diameter, the piston measures 4″ diameter. There are no cracks or breaks to be found throughout the engine, except for the bottom of the hopper.
