This is a John Deere 1 1/2 hp model E engine! This engine spins over and nothing is stuck! It has some compression and both valves are free! This would be an excellent restoration project as it is all there! There is no cracks breaks or welds that I can find! It did have a weld on the igniter and rocker arm but I swapped them out with good ones! Some degreasing and this will be a very nice engine! The gas tank appears to be solid and ready to be filled! John Deere / Associated magneto for hit miss engine. Mag is in good condition and ready to use. Leaving the mag with original patina, new owner can shine up if desired. John Deere magneto also used on the Associated/United engines that took the 2 bolt mags. Mounting holes are 2 center to center. Like a lot of these mags the original mounting holes must have been stripped out so someone repaired by putting a piece of brass in its place so should never have the same problem again. Threaded mounting holes have good threads. Has original wire on it. I recharged the magnets to make sure it was at full strength. Bench tested and HOT mag. Lights up a test light nice and bright when spun by hand. Guaranteed to be a HOT mag. This is a low tension mag meaning it is for use with ignitors and not high tension (spark plug). If you don’t see a part you need listed, good chance I have it and haven’t gotten around to it yet so just check with me. Like I said I have done this a long time and try to list everything accurately to explain all the good and the bad. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper, I won’t take it back. Here is a pretty nice old 1 1/2hp John Lauson Model W hit and miss gas engine. It is fresh from an old collection where it lived for many years. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks or repairs other than an old repair on the ignitor trip block and part of the serial tag missing. It turns over nicely with good compression. There seems to be very little wear on the gearing or in the bearings. It has a very unique fuel mixer or carburetor on it which was only on the earliest Model W engines. It has the original pulley and crankguard on it. It is also ignitor fired which makes it a bit unusual. It has the original gas tank in between the original skids. I think there’s a good amount of original paint under the repaint if you’d choose to unrestore the engine. I think with some fresh gas and a battery and coil this engine would fire right up. It would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or Lauson display. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it. This is an extremely nice original and VERY hard to find John Deere and Webber Gold Medal No. It is fresh from an old collection where it was tucked away for many years. It has lots of original paint on it and displays very nicely. Everything seems to turn and work as it should. All of the internals are there in the separating head and it has the original bowl, spouts, and float with it. It has the original Gold Medal and Deere and Webber tags on it. It also has the remnants of an original decal on the side of the body. It is great shape with no cracks, breaks or repairs that I can see or know of other than the solder on the bowl spout needing some attention. It is also missing the wing nut type screw that secures the bowl to the saddle and the pail shelf. This separator was made by Associated Manufacturers in Waterloo, Iowa, for John Deere and it would be very likely that an Associated cream separator pail shelf would be the same as the one for this separator. This is a fantastic display piece for your early hit and miss gas engine display or John Deere machinery collection. Cream separators like this hardly ever turn up in the wild or even at swap meets anymore so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss this one. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it!
