Here is a Sumter No. 12 magneto for a FM Headless Z engine. It produces a very nice spark and has some wear. It will need a new base but those are available as reproductions and are easy to change out. It seems to knock just a little bit when it is turned over, I’ve not had it apart so I don’t know the reason. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. If you would like to talk about it 419 789 1159. SPECIAL NOTE: This is a low tension magneto, it is meant to work with an igniter and will not produce at spark that will jump an air gap. It will not work with a spark plug. The spark it produces can be observed by rubbing a wire from the terminal against the case of the mag while turning the shaft. It does have to be timed to the engine. Brass case but pot metal bottom that will need changed out. 3/8 shaft for gear mounting. Should be a 3-3/4 mounting pattern. Slight amount of knocking can be heard when its turned over. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. In my opinion this is a great magneto. If you have any questions about how to use it on your engine please ask. Don’t be a clown and tear it all apart and then try to return it when you can’t get it to work. Here is a very nice looking Sumter No. 22 magneto for a 3hp or 6hp FM Z engine. It produces a very nice spark and has only a very minimal or no amount of wear. The base has some very superficial cracking but it should be fine for years to come but maybe not. New bases are available as reproductions and are easy to change out. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. If you want to talk about it 419 789 1159. Here is a Sumter B low tension brass body magneto. It is in absolutely excellent condition in my opinion. Please take a look at the pictures and see if you need it. SPECIAL NOTE this is a low tension mag and will not fire a spark plug! It is meant to be used with an igniter. The spark on a mag like this will not jump an air gap! I tested this mag by visually assessing the spark it produced while rubbing a bare wire against the body of the mag while turning the shaft. Brass Body, Brass Base. The bearings seem perfectly nice and tight, no wear! 2 x 2 Mounting pattern, the threads look really good. Tapered shaft for gear mounting, the taper is about 15/32″ to 19/32″. I try to list items very accurately but my opinions on condition may differ from yours. This item in a complex antique electronic mechanical unit. Please don’t act like a cave man and send me emails grunting “my friend mag guy says need rebuilt you pay he bill” or “I took apart now no fire I send back”. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description.
