This is a NEAR MINT CONDITION restored 1933 Maytag model 92 hit and miss engine READY TO SHOW. Serial number: 508700 (August 1933) The engine runs very good and starts on first or second kick. It has very good compression and has a flawless bore with no carbon. The engine was COMPLETELY taken apart and SAND blasted to remove all dirt, rust, and corrosion. The carburetor/mixer was disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and rebuilt with some NEW parts. The engine was painted in the original Maytag green color. The coil and condenser are both in very good condition and produce a HOT blue spark. No obvious cracks or breaks. Comes with wood skids. The flywheel was polished, not painted. The engine has NEW decals and caution plate, new gaskets, new spark plug wire and shoe, and new kill switch assembly. Very nice antique John Deere low tension magneto. The magneto is in very good original condition. Turns over nicely by hand with very good spark. Has the original gear and breather plate. The mounting threads in the bottom are very good. The body is also in very good condition. No age cracking or abuse. This mag should fit 1 1/2 horse power engines. It will also fit the 3 and 6 horse power engines with the proper gear. Please see my other auctions for more magnetos and parts. I don’t know much about this assemblage of parts. The base and cylinder/hopper are cast aluminum. The flywheels and pulley are cast brass and seem like good castings. There are no plans. This was is part of a kit to build a model of a Sears Economy gas engine. The flywheels are about 6 1/2 inches in diameter and about 7/8 inches wide. I’m not sure if plans are still available or what other parts may be missing. There are photos of completed kits and also information on these kits on the internet. Maytag 72D Twin Cylinder Hit-n-Miss Motor. Serial # 29682 is stamped on the inside of flywheel area and # 882347 is stamped on the outside edge of the flywheel itself. I found this motor in the rafters of an old equipment shed on a farm in South Central Kentucky. It DOES NOT run in current condition, however I believe it would restore well and should run great. It needs a good cleaning! The motor turns easily and I did a compression check that shows one cylinder at about 45 PSI and one at 50 PSI. I do not know what normal compression is supposed to be. One spark plug has the tip broke off, both spark plug wires are broken, one cylinder cooling fin has a piece missing, the pulley nearest the kick start has a small piece missing around the shaft area, the gas tank has dried chunks in it (presumed from old fuel), part of the outside pulley shaft is missing. Up for sale is a very nice restored Maytag Model 92, 11-111, Antique hit miss Gas Engine. The flywheel has serial # 659076 stamped on it so it was in production Sep 1935. Painted with original Maytag green automotive paint. The skids you see under my motors go with the engine. I have been restoring these engines for over 10 years. I also restore Maytag wringer washers and put Maytag motor’s on them as well. This engine was completely taken apart and SAND blasted BEAD blasted cleaned and painted the original Maytag green paint. I take a lot of pride in these motors as you can see and I like to do a little extra detailing such as the lettering and the numbers as you can see in the pictures. I think it makes the motor’s stand out better. Lot of guys likes to copy my work so I have a trade mark that I can only tell that it is one that I had done. I do not use any junk parts on my motors. As you can see this engine is complete and not missing any parts such as the pulley and air filter. It has new rings, condenser and spark plug and plug wire with new ends. I also honed out the Cylinder jug and carburetor is completely rebuilt with all new parts. This engine has been restored and freshly painted and the fuel tank and top plate was sealed so it will not rust again. I do not paint the flywheels like some people I just polish them up nice. After putting it all back together I ran three tanks of fuel through it and it runs just fine. I like to run my engines that much so I know it will run great and help seat the rings a little for you. Then I put on a set of real nice WATER TRANSFER DECAL that I had made and sell. NOT those NASTY sticky fly by night cheap decals. The coil is good and has hot nice spark. I have a lot of people will send me a motor to restore for them as well. All it needs now is fuel and you can start it with your hand, it is that easy to start. No breaks cracks or welds. I use foam spray to pack the motor and it takes a lot. Please read below pictures. This washer is not part of this sale. I will start packing the engine and it takes about 5 days to pack it so the foam spray can dry a little. Thank you for looking.
