Unrestored 7 HP Nelson Brothers stationary flywheel gas engine. Mounted on iron frame and wheels. Other than missing name plate, it appears complete. Turns over and gets compression. The original Wico magneto needs its magnets recharged, at least so from what I was reading about them the magnets pull freely from the coils. The cooling jacket on the underside of the cylinder has a crack, probably a freeze fracture see attached photo. From the appearance of the cylinder bore and piston (both oily and not rusted), it would seem unlikely that the cylinder wall is cracked also. While turning it over I noticed that a tooth on one of the gears is chipped see attached photo. It doesn’t seem to prevent proper mesh of the gears. The belt pulley has rust holes see attached photo. The prefixes on the embossed part numbers are “F” and “FA”. The engine base, cylinder, cooling hopper and moving parts don’t show extensive rust pitting and should clean up nicely. The rims of the flywheels do show some pitting, not the sides or spokes, but the rims. Looks like the engine will need a new gas tank also. The Scrap Pile Fugitive. This machine is a piece of history. Years ago it could have been seen at local tractors shows like Threshermans show in Pinckneyville Il. It has 3 steam engines mounted on a truck frame. The tall one in the middle drove a saw in the front. The name on it is J. Born & Bro Machine Works Belleville Il. With a Gardner 1 1/4 ball governor. The two smaller ones would have drove the machine forward and backward. The larger one is an Ames Iron Works No. The smaller one was made in a machine shop for this machine. They all are free and turn. It has a water pump in the rear. Almost everything thing it needs to run except a boiler. Be sure to contact me with questions. We can discuss things if interested. This is a real nice original WIco EK magneto bracket for a Nelson Brothers hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for the advance/retard tab which appears to have been homemade. I’m sure it works as it should but could be made a little less crude. The trip finger is stuck on the shoulder bolt but I’m sure as greasy is this was before I cleaned it that it would free right up with a little heat. It has some decent original gray paint on it. I believe it is from a Model T Nelson Brothers or Little Jumbo engine but may fit other Nelson Brothers or Nelson Brothers built engines. It mounts with two holes 2 5/8 inches apart on center. These original magneto brackets are rather tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and many of them are broken or repaired. If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration here’s your chance. The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way. This is a real nice original crank guard or splash shield for a larger Nelson Brothers hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. At least I’m pretty sure it’s Nelson Bros… If it isn’t please educate me! It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It is about 6 1/8 inches wide and about 17 inches long. It is part number A-60 and mounts with one hole in the back of the crankcase of the engine. These original crankguards are rather tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and many of them are missing. If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration here’s your chance. Here is a carb or fuel mixer that I think is for a small Nelson Bros Little Jumbo. It is in good shape and seems to be ready to use. It appears someone might have ground down the mounting area to make it fit in a smaller hole. It would probably work fine as is or it would be easy to have a machinist true it up and make a bushing to slip over that area. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. I think this is for a small Nelson Bothers engine. It mounts to the engine by slipping into a hole. I think the mounting area has been ground down. It is currently a little uneven and a little tapered It is 1-3/16″ at the base and 1-1/16″ at the top. No, Cracks, Breaks, or Welds that I can see or know of. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper you I won’t take it back. This is a rather unusual deep well, double reduction cast iron well pump jack made by Nelson Bros in Saginaw, Michigan. It is in good original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs other than 2 chipped teeth that I have pointed. The teeth seem to have very little wear anywhere on them and I don’t think this jack has seen much use. It is stuck but should free up with some heat and a little elbow grease. It is marked on the back of the disc with the Nelson Bros name. It stands about 22 inches tall and would make a fantastic display piece for your early hit and miss gas engine display or working pumpjack display. Oddball pumpjacks like this hardly ever turn up in the wild or even at swap meets anymore so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss this one. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it!
