Antique Old Hit & Miss Gas Engine Cart Bolster Set Cast Iron Large Size

We have had many requests for a larger set of bolsters for the bigger engines so here they are, about 70% larger than the small set. These cast iron bolsters take a lot of the work and all of the welding out of making a cart for your engine. One pair of stationary and a pivoting bolster with axle mounting hardware designed to work with axles 1 5/16 to 2 in diameter recommended for use on engines 4hp and up. A lot of you have bought wheels in the past with the idea of actually using them one day, well dig them out and dust them off (or leave the dust on) now is your chance to put them back to work even if they take different size axles, due to the design you can run any combination of 1 5/16 to 2diameter axles between the front and rear. Bolsters are 5 1/2 tall and the width spacing between the mounting holes on the pivoting bolster base is 9 ¾. Finished height of cart will vary depending on the diameter of the wheels used. Cast iron will give an antique look many prefer over fabricated strap steel and help your engine really stand out at the next show. This is a real nice original crank guard or splash shield for a larger Nelson Brothers hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. At least I’m pretty sure it’s Nelson Bros… If it isn’t please educate me! It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It is about 6 1/8 inches wide and about 17 inches long. It is part number A-60 and mounts with one hole in the back of the crankcase of the engine. These original crankguards are rather tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and many of them are missing. If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration here’s your chance. This one is ready to be put to work on an engine or put into your inventory for a spare. The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed in any way. Handle mounting brackets clamp onto turning axle making handle mounting and removing easy. Instructions include with set. 8 diameter by 2 wide, 1-1/16 bore for ¾ pipe axle. Steering Bolster – 5 diameter base, 6-1/2 wide axle mount saddle, two 7/16 mounting bolts 3-3/4 apart. Solid bolsters – 3 tall, 4-1/2long mounting base, 1-1/2 thick. 3-1/2 long, 2 wide, 1 thick, ½ x 1 post. Maximum recommended engine weight is 500 pounds. Nice old original Alten yellow dog oil lamp. Used in the oil fields long ago for light to tend engines or what ever. Called yellow dogs as they look like two dogs eyes at night when lighted. I oiled it down and put two new wicks in and it is missing the lid but has the original bail. A new lid could be turned out of wood or steel. Very seldom found most were melted down years ago. 1911 Waterloo Boy 2 1/2 hp Hit & Miss Engine Antique 1911 Waterloo Boy 2 1/2 hp. Hit and miss engine on Waterloo cart. Twenty years ago the previous owner had it bored and sleeved, with new rings, and crank. Two wheels on the cart have old repairs and all the wheels are a bit wobbly with age but cart pulls nice and is solid. I would guess that the head has an old repair, lower left side, but not sure on that either, starts easy and runs great, (sure on that) crank guard is a reproduction. I can help with loading on this end. I can store it out of the weather for a few months once paid in full, if needed. PS: the old boy is running in some of the pictures.
