This is an extremely hard to find original sales catalog for Otto gas engines made in Philadelphia, PA. It measures about 7 1/2 x 10 inches with 32 pages and is dated 1908. It is in good condition for it’s age with some minor soiling and wear but displays very nicely. It has a nice, embossed coversand overall it is nice and HEAVILY illustrated. It covers all of the sizes of gas engines they offered at the time and shows many different configurations. There are some impressive factory photos in it and it has tables of specifications for all of the engines. It also has a unique list of colleges and universities that used OTTO engines as teaching aids in their laboratories. This catalog would be a fine addition to your early industrial library and would look especially nice displayed with your Otto engine at the shows. These original catalogs don’t turn up very often as so many of them lost their battle with the wood stove back in the day so don’t miss your chance on this one as Otto paper hardly ever turns up for sale. This is a pretty nice original Motsinger Autosparker generator or dynamo for ignition on an early hit and miss gas engine. It seems to be in great shape for its age with no cracks, breaks, or repairs other than one crack in an outer magnet which shouldn’t affect anything. I believe this is the earliest style of Motsinger with the round magnets. It turns over very smoothly with very little wear in the bearings. It is ready to accept the pulley of your choice on the shaft. It mounts with two holes in the brass body and they are in good shape. The armature seems to have very little wear. These early Motsinger’s are extremely tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and they really set an engine off! If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. Here’s an old Auto Sparker made by Motsinger. The last patent date on the builders tag is 1903. Someone has cleaned and repainted it. I don’t know if it works or not, but there are 2 wires hanging loose. The name tag is cracked there is a small tear in the tape that covers the windings. Other than the cracked tag and winding cover tape, I don’t see anything missing, broken or repaired. A few of the small screws may have been replaced though. Here is a very neat old 11.5KW 125 Volt Dynamo. According to the tag it is a Willey Electric Dynamo made by the Jas Clark Jr. & Co of Louisville KY. It seems to be in great shape. I hooked up a deep cycle 12 volt battery to it and it started spinning. I have no idea if it is ready to make power but I think it is. I think it would look great belted up to an old hit and miss engine. The end of one of the mounting slides has a crack in it. If I were going to fix it I would just drill a hole though the side and clamp it together with an old nut and bolt. That would be a repair just like they would have done 100 years ago. Here is a link I found with a little information on it. According to that link it appears this one is a Size 3 and weighs 1150 lbs. Take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. 125 Volts 11.5KW 92 Amps Speed 1175. It is about 28 tall to the top of the case. The pulley face it 6-3/4″ in diameter and 5-1/2″ wide. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. So if someone doesn’t pay I will ban them from my listings and also tell all my friends who also sell engine parts on here who to watch out for. If you haven’t caught on this is supposed to be mildly funny but yet serious at the same time. If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper you I won’t take it back. The auto sparker is patented on feb 6 1900 the last patent is march 10 1903.. From what i can find out it is for assisting starting up old stationary gas engines, i believe. This one is missing a bunch of parts that i can surmise from searching the internet. The good points are that it exists and the arbor spins freely and it is not too beat up. And according to what i have found. This example of, the auto sparker has the original leather fly/pulley wheel. The previous owner used this example as a display. The previous owner mounted it on a metal plate and the eye hook he hung it from the ceiling joints in the garage.. The auto sparker is untested. I do not know if it works. Please see pictures for condition and what parts are and are not present. Any information will be appreciated. This auto sparker weighs about 18 pound as pictured. This is a rather hard to find and very high quality original biddle hand held tachometer. It was made in switzerland and measures rotating speed from 30 to 50,000 revolutions per minute. It is in excellent slightly used condition and is in it’s original case with all of the attachments still in their places. The original instruction card is still under the loop in the cover of the case. The case measures about 7 inches long. These tachometers are extremely expensive new and are top of the line instruments. They are great to have at your disposal when determining the speed of gas or steam engines or dynamos or other equipment that are being driven by them. The pictures tell the story on this nice one.
