This is a very large and impressive 2 Gardner steam engine governor. It could also work for a large gas engine. It is in excellent, used condition just as found from an old collector’s estate. Everything moves as it should and it has very little wear on the the gears. It has some mild wear on the shaft and should work fine just the way it is. All of the internals are in the steam chest. It stands about 23 inches tall and mounts with a flange on the bottom as can be seen. These large governors are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you need one for a project don’t miss your chance on this one. It is in pretty good shape. The spindle fits really well in its bore and only the very smallest amount of wear can be felt Check out the pictures and see if you need it. The sheet metal piece that holds the pushrod in is a little rusty but that would be super easy to replace if someone wanted to. It is missing the detent arm that would mount on the pin. For questions 419 789 1159. Only very minimal wear can be felt. The 2 mounting holes are about 2-1/4 apart on center. The push rod that runs through it would be 3/4″ x 3/8″. 7/16 diameter pin for detent mounting. Very hard part to find. Thanks for looking at this listing! This is the top end of a fairly large Judson steam engine governor. It is as found from an early collector’s estate. The top assembly, weights, linkages, and gear look to be in good used condition. It measures about 8 1/2 inches tall and 9 inches in “diameter”. It was broken off of the body of the governor but these are still great parts if you need them to complete another governor. This is a VERY hard to find original 1 Gardner governor for a steam engine or gas engine or tractor. It is in excellent VERY lightly used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of. It has very little wear on the shaft or on the gears! Everything moves as it should and it shouldn’t need much attention at all to be put back into service. The 1 npt threads are in great shape as can be seen. This governor measures about 14 tall overall. If you need a governor for a project or just for a spare on the shelf this is a really nice one that hardly needs any attention.
