This is a really nice old 8hp marine type gas engine built by the straubel machine company in green bay wisconsin. This was a very short lived company that didn’t build very many engines. This is a fresh water engine and is in excellent condition as can be seen in the photos. It is much larger than most of the marine engines that turn up as it is 8hp. It stands about 37 inches tall on the nice fabricated presentation base that it sits on. It could easily be used for stationary purposes like this. Everything seems to be correct and original on this engine. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs that i can see or know of. It turns over nicely and has excellent compression even after sitting for several years. The only thing i can see that is missing is the tab for the timer to rub on the hub of the flywheel for ignition. This would be very easy to fabricate. This engine is a two cycle engine and will run in either direction. The flywheel measures about 21 1/2 inches in diameter with a 4 1/2 inch face. The are two notches in the edge of it to start it with a bar in either direction. It has a very heavy and ornate original brass serial tag on it. This is a rather rare engine as straubels don’t turn up very often in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’re looking for something different this is certainly it. I can deliver this for free to lesueur, mn, baraboo, wi, portland, in, or coolspring, pa, later this year. It can also be picked up here. The steel cart it is sitting on it is not included in the sale. I can be reached at 262 573 1931 if you’d like to talk about it.
