Head removed from a smaller size Nelson bros hit & Miss Built engine. Typically tagged as a 1 1/2 or 1 3/4HP engine. Please research and do some measuring before purchasing this head to make sure it’s what you need! No breaks or welds that I can see. Good 1 NPT threads on the exhaust. The 4 mounting holes are spaced 3 7/16 apart from each other on centers. The valves have quite a bit of “slop” (wear) In the guides. I’ve seen many engines run that way and I imagine with a good cleaning and lap job to the valves they would work just fine. Keep in mind this item is over 100 years old. It’s old and used!!

Here is an original HEAD for a 3hp John Lauson hit and miss engine. It has some cracking at the top front of it. This head and it’s attached parts were removed from a 1 3/4HP Throttle governed XK Economy engine. As far as I can see there is no breaks or repairs done to the head but there is some things that will need some work before being put to use! I will list all the flaws that I can see below! The 1 exhaust threads are in poor shape and will need some attention and re tapped. The intake valve is stuck. Exhaust valve is loose. Ek magneto trip eccentric is stuck on the shaft it rides on. Rocker arm rotates back and fourth but is stuck on the shaft, (moves on the pedestal attached to head). The part numbers are a little hard to see but I will do my best at listing them! The part # on the head looks to read GE4073S. The part # on the Rocker arm looks to read GE4016. Carburetor mounting hole spacing is 2 1/4 on centers. The head mounting holes are spaced 3 apart from one another on centers. Please see all pictures for the absolute best description. This head will need work before being able to be put to use. It’s old and I’m used.

The carburetor bolt hole spacing is 2 1/4 on centers. The 4 holes that are on the head that mount to your engine block are spaced 3 1/2 apart. Keep in mind this item is used and almost 100 years old.
