This is a rather hard to find very early style “heavy pattern” 2 1/2hp hit and miss gasoline engine made by the John Lauson Manufacturing Company in New Holstein, Wisconsin. It is one of the earliest styles as it has the cylinder and crankcase cast in one piece. It is ignitor fired and is a true hit and miss gas engine. It is in good condition for it’s age with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than the fuel saver tab needing to be straightened out. This should be a very simple project. The engine turns over nicely and has good compression even after sitting for a few years. It looks to have some original paint under the repaint. The flywheels run true and the bearings and gearing all seem to be in great shape. This engine would benefit from an unrestoration or a proper restoration but displays quite nicely as it is. The gas tank is cast into the base. It has a very nice heavy cast brass serial tag on it. This is a very early engine that doesn’t turn up very often! It has nice lines to it and would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or display. Other than a fuel line, gas, a battery and coil this engine shouldn’t take much to make noise! The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it. I can deliver this for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, engine shows or swap meets later this year. I have a forklift to load if you choose to pick it up. I took the magneto off and stored in a climate control building. Engine has not run for 10 years, no cracks or breaks. Was repainted several years ago. This is a sale for I believe an Antique Hit and Miss Engine Cart appearing original smooth rolling Cast Iron un-cleaned in as shown found condition. The cart is a heavy bolt together design with 20 8 Spoke cast iron free rolling wheels with a bolt on axle. The front wheel is heavy duty swivel smooth rolling with a bolt on mounting flange. The bed is thick cast iron has a few cracks and some missing flange but is still solid and appears usable as is. The cast iron wheels each have a small chip on the edge of the flat but don’t see any cracks breaks etc. All appears solid, heavy and in smooth rolling condition. No handle found and there is a good amount of surface cleaning needed on the bed. Measurements: Spoke wheels 20″ x 2-3/8″ overall 28″ x 38″ bed 13-1/2″ x 28-1/2″ with partial flange. Very nice unmarked lubricator/oiler in great shape!! Overall this is about 7 3/4 long. Just about 3 1/4 across at it’s widest point. The glass cylinder is about 2 1/8 tall. It is approximately the same size as a Lunkenheimer #3 oiler. Bottom thread is 3/8 NPT. Glass cylinder intact with no cracks or chips. Sight glass is intact. Awesome oiler – would look great on a hit miss engine! Has a couple of extra valves on the bottom portion. One with a wooden knob. Both knob at top and bottom are in great shape. I have not been able to find out anything about this oiler since it is not marked. Wooden stand is not included. Have not cleaned oiler. Will allow new owner to clean to their own specifications. Unmarked drip oilers with breathing tubes & check balls. Size:oiler measures 6 ¾” high x 2 1/4″ in diameter. Glass cylinder is approx. Similar in size to a lunkenheimer #2. Marked “1″ below sight glass. Has minor wrench marks. Check ball is intact. Have not cleaned it. Will let new owner clean it to his. Size:oiler measures 5 1/2″ high x 2″ in diameter. Marked “2″ below sight glass. Similar (slightly smaller) in size to a lunkenheimer #2. Wooden stand not included.
