This is a VERY nice old Pickering 2 1/2 inch governor for a steam traction or stationary engine. This size governor was generally for 20-30hp engines. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. Everything moves as it should and the gears look to be in great shape. The pulley shaft has very slight wear. The pulley shaft is about 21 inches long (overall width) and overall the governor stands about 30 inches tall. This governor mounts with a 4-hole flange but also has internal threads in that flange so it is dual-application. All of the guts are in the steam chest and I don’t think this governor would take much extra work if any to be put in to service. Are extremely difficult to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up and it probably won’t be this nice. I can be reached at 262 573 1931 if you’d like to talk about it. The pictures tell the story. Nice original barn fresh IHC 8 feed grinder. Fresh from an old farm building where it lived in retirement for decades. In unmolested condition with quite a bit of original paint and decal. Has a few working scars but nothing that prevents it for working as it should. It needs a little straightening on the hopper but it is very solid and not rusted at the bottom. It stands about 43 inches tall, turns as it should and would grind feed as is. The engagement lever for the burrs is broken and missing but it should be fairly easy to repair or replace. No other cracks, breaks or repairs that I can see or know of other than a wood plug in the top of the hopper which won’t affect anything. The bearings seem to have little wear and I don’t think this mill has done much work. It’s tough to find original pieces like this anymore and would look nice belted to an original engine! I can deliver for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it’s paid for. Hello All and thanks for stopping by. Up for sale/offers here is a model hit and miss engine. It appears that this engine is cast all in brass and a lot of work went into this little beauty. Flywheels are about 5 and 1/4 inches in diameter. He finally got to this one and after a lot of tinkering, he has it running. He converted this little engine to propane as camp fuel was very tricky to find the right mix he said. Engine starts and runs, but it could use even more tinkering to make it better. It needs “refining” as my dad says. We both feel it would be better off in a home where it will be appreciated. Engine looks to be high quality. This is a VERY hard to find original Leader 3/4 inch governor for a steam engine or gas engine. It is in excellent used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than needing the valve rod put back into the socket with the set screw. Everything moves as it should. There is very little wear on the gears and only a little more on the pulley shaft. It has the original pulley on it. The 3/4 inch NPT threads look to be in great shape. It stands about 12 inches tall. Other than the valve rod and a little cleaning I would say this governor would be ready to be used on an engine! These old Leader governors are quite tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one for an authentic restoration here’s a really nice one.
