Up for your consideration is this super nice original 1 1/2 hp engine. It has very much of its all original paint, with a legible Lauson decal on the side of the hopper. The tag on the EK magneto is equally as nice. This engine has 100% compression, and no wear on the intake valve guide. The exhaust rocker arm has no wear on the pin and the rubbing surface on the valve stem looks like new. This engine runs absolutely great! I got this at an estate sale recently. The dirty looking photo is when it was still sitting in the barn. I had to add an oiler and three geese cups as they were missing. The ones I got are brass, the originals were probably steel. The two grease cups for the governor gear are still there. The spark plug wire has been replaced and should be replaced with a correct high tension lead. The mag has great spark, even the spark plug looks to be the original and shows no wear. It was mounted on the steel plate pictured. But I don’t know what the engine drove, my guess, an air compressor or milking machine. The gas tank is copper. I believe that it could be a replacement. It needs a cap and a clean out; but it looks very useable. It has the check valve fitting on the mixer inlet. I don’t see any cracks, breaks or welds. I did not put any water n the hopper but I don’t see any reason why it would not hold water. It has what looks like a nice original drain valve at the bottom of the hopper. The original steel muffler is also in great condition; no rust. This is a great engine especially for a collector of Lauson Products.. This is a factory assembled and painted all original engine, not a shoddy restoration. Engines rarely come along in such mint condition as this one. This is a very unusual and mostly original Victorian era vertical steam engine. I don’t know who the maker was so if you do please educate me. It is fresh from an old estate where it lived for decades! It has been loosely assembled as the original fasteners were missing as well as the bearing shims. It measures about 6 1/4 x 8 1/4 x 13 inches tall. The flywheel is about 13/16 x 6 1/4 inches in diameter. Overall this engine has a great look to it! There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of except for a very old repair or “stitch” in one upright as I’ve pointed out. Everything moves and interacts as it should and this was quite obviously a running engine at some point. WIth just some minor tinkering it should run again. Early steam engines like this are extremely tough to find and it would be a fine addition to your early steam engine display or collection. The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed! It is in excellent original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of. It retains most of its original paint even on the belt pulley so I doubt that it has been used very much if at all! It has the original cast iron muffler and starting crank on it as can be seen. It has outstanding compression and great spark. It likely wouldn’t take much to make noise although I haven’t tried it. This is a throttle governed engine from the hit and miss engine era. I believe it is as close to new as you could hope to find and it would be a unique addition to your collection! This is an outstanding original example of a Cretors horizontal steam engine that was built in Chicago, IL, and originally used in one of their sidewalk popcorn wagons in the early 1900′s. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of. It is the much harder to find nickle-plated version and measures about 10 x 22 x 11 1/2 inches tall overall. It has it’s original builders tag on the edge and is engine number 9424. It operates smoothly on air and everything movers and interacts as it should. It has the original flyball governor on it which is also marked Cretors. There is some rust on the bedplate but on the rest of the engine the plating is very solid. This is by far the nicest original Cretors that I have seen come to market in many years and would be a fine addition to your early steam engine display or collection. The pictures tell the story. This is an outstanding original example or a two-cylinder Locomobile steam engine for an early horseless carriage. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks or repairs that I can see or know of. It appears to have been mechanically restored by a previous owner who was an industrial engineer and very talented machinist. Everything on it is nice and tight as it should. It turns over smoothly and everything interacts just as it should. It runs very nicely on compressed air as I’ve run it personally. It has the serial number 3893 stamped on it near the crankshaft. It also has “Creetors” stamped in a few places but this is incorrect as it is a Locomobile. As it’s original application is a horizontal engine it measures about 12 1/2 x 26 x 10 inches tall. The previous owner was obsessed with Cretors engines enough that he stamped this engine to be one, too, but didn’t even spell it correctly. This could be removed is you so choose. This engine has the original water pump on it as can be seen. It has a brass/bronze frame and displays very nicely! This is by far the nicest original Locomobile that I have seen come to market in many years and would be a fine addition to your early steam engine display or collection or an even better addition to your Locomobile car to complete a restoration! . All of the rebuild work seems to have been done! The stand that it is on does not go with the engine (not included in the sale). The pictures tell the story. You won’t be disappointed! Original 1907 Fairbanks-Morse Catalog for Jack-Of-All-Trades and Small Vertical Engines. The catalog has 36 pages of informationand measures 6″ x 9″. Please review the pictures of the cover as it shows signs of wear. I guess that is to be expected for an original from 1907! If you decide you don’t want it or find another one cheaper, I won’t take it back. For example, if my measurements are wrong I would take it back. Some of my parts, especially some magnetos are listed “AS IS”. Please feel free to call me with questions.
