This is an original cast iron piston and rod for an Alamo, Rock Island, Empire, Cockshutt, or other Alamo-built hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. The rod has a part number of 5943. The piston is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and the center to center from the wrist pin to the crankshaft journal is about 15 inches. I would say this is for about a 4-5 hp engines. If you know what size it fits please educate me. It is in good condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. The babbitt bearing looks to be in good shape as well. The wrist pin moves but is very stiff. The original rings are in it and may be usable but I’ll leave that up to the new owner. The rod cap is on it as well. Please measure your engine to be sure it works for your application. These original parts are quite tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets! If you’ve been looking for one to complete a restoration or to replace your broken or repaired one here’s your chance. The pictures tell the story. It would surely beat making them! This is a very unusual flat belt driven piston type water pump pressure washer made by Hardie Manufacturing Company as seen on the brass serial tag. It is in excellent original condition as can be seen and retains most of it’s original paint and lettering. It is in a factory enclosure and the sheet metal panels on each side lift up to watch it work. I believe the cart it is on is shop made specifically for this pressure washer. It has an opening on the top for the belt and the motor carriage appears to be homemade. It doesn’t appear to have been used very much as there is still some paint on the drive pulley. It turns over nice and smoothly with no wear in the bearings or on the gears. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of except one of the bearing caps which I’ve provided a picture of. The other bearing cap looks to be identical so this should be an easy repair. There are two original tips for the hose. The overall size of the cabinet is about 24 inches square and 36 inches tall to the top of the case without the belt guard. It has some paint overspray on it from living in a shop type environment for many decades. The hose is dry and may need to be replaced but this should be available at your local farm or industrial supply store. I’ve seen a lot of early industrial pumps and setups but this particular setup is a first for me! It would certainly be a conversation piece using it at your local engine run by an engine! Oddball setups like this hardly ever turn up in the wild or even at swap meets anymore so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss this one. The pictures tell the story. 3 x 5, the pulley is 20 inches in diameter and it stands 35 inches tall. This is the nice small size that makes a good demonstration piece with a gas engine. I didn’t see any cracks in the pump casting, only one little crack on the gear guard- see photo. I didn’t test it with water. It had a lot of acorns in it when I got it. But it turns nice and smooth.
