Original CRETORS Steam Engine Popcorn Peanut Wagon Hit Miss Matching NOs #7582. Very nice and extremely hard to find original Cretors Steam Engine. This unit has all 3 matching numbers. It is serial number #7582. Has a nickel plated governor. On bottom of plate it has threaded hole for input of steam and the hole that is typically drilled. In base plate has not been drilled. It does not have a guage. It has some piping added later I believe coming from regulator. It appears that red paint was added to the frame which i believe was black. The Main wheel shaft has the gear and possible an added pulley. On the rear shaft mount there is a vertical mounting plate which I have no idea what it went attached there, but I have not been able to match it to any other units. Everything moves and turns smoothly. We have not attempted to clean, disassemble anything. The base plate is in excellent condition. I do not see any cracks or damage / repairs on any part of this. I’m no expert and i’m sure things like seals, etc, will have to be addressed. We never hooked it up to air or steam. This is an outstanding original example of a Cretors horizontal steam engine that was built in Chicago, IL, and originally used in one of their sidewalk popcorn wagons in the early 1900′s. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of. It is the much harder to find nickle-plated version and measures about 10 x 22 x 11 1/2 inches tall overall. It has it’s original builders tag on the edge and is engine number 9424. It operates smoothly on air and everything movers and interacts as it should. It has the original flyball governor on it which is also marked Cretors. There is some rust on the bedplate but on the rest of the engine the plating is very solid. This is by far the nicest original Cretors that I have seen come to market in many years and would be a fine addition to your early steam engine display or collection. The pictures tell the story. Patent 1906 Antique Cretors Popcorn Steam Engine. This is stamped with No. 8409 and is an early one. It has a nickel plated framework and base. The flywheel measures 8 and turns freely. The govenor turns freely as well. It even has the round leather belt pulley. The full length to outside of the mounting flange is 22 1/2″ by 9 1/2″ wide. Would really look great on the steam table at the next hit and miss gas engine show. We would be happy to provide additional pictures upon request. Circa 1890 antique kingery mfg. Co steam engine in good working condition. This early one has been repainted and a few modern machine screws have been added. The piston and valve assembly are cast brass with what appears to be nice nickle plating end caps. The number 254 is hand stamped on the back which may have been a shop inventory number or serial number. It is larger than a toy size measuring 20 1/8′ by 6 1/2″ by 8″ high. The flywheel is 8 in diameter and has a number 136 cast in it. It is fairly heavy which helps it run smooth.
