For sale is a nice Maytag engine # 455766. This engine has been taken apart wire brushed and bead blasted and painted while in pieces. Cylinder was honed, bearings where polished with new rings and gaskets. Carburetor was cleaned with new air valve and seat with spring Engine starts and runs good at a steady pace. Engine is complete with new decals and ready to show. Engine does not have original pulley, but this pulley will work and does look good. Check out my engine mufflers. This is a 2.5 Hp, Vertical, 2 cycle, Hit and Miss engine built by Detroit motor Car Supply Co. It is a true Hit and Miss. The governor linkage locks the carburetor check valve shut when the engine is up to speed. Engine was restored many years ago and was last run 3 years ago. Has always been stored indoors. After last running, the gas tank was drained and dried out. Gas tank had previously been coated with sealer. I just checked the coil and it is hot. This engine will run in either direction and can be reversed on the fly. Overall length 36″, width 21″, Height 34. This is an antique Hit or Miss Engine, I’m told this is a Stover CT2 most likely used on a Cement Mixer. Someone else tells me it has a Wico EK magneto. So ask and I will try to find out. Up for sale is a very nice restored Maytag Model 82, Antique hit miss Gas Engine. The flywheel has serial # 127725 stamped on it. Painted with original Maytag green automotive paint. The skids you see under my motors go with the engine. I have been restoring these engines for over 10 years. I also restore Maytag wringer washers and put Maytag motor’s on them as well. This engine was completely taken apart and SAND blasted BEAD blasted cleaned and painted the original Maytag green paint. I take a lot of pride in these motors as you can see and I like to do a little extra detailing such as the lettering and the numbers as you can see in the pictures. I think it makes the motor’s stand out better. Lot of guys likes to copy my work so I have a trade mark that I can only tell that it is one that I had done. I put on new kill switch, new rings, and spark plug and plug wire. I also honed out the Cylinder jug and carburetor is completely rebuilt with all new parts. It does have a small piece broken off top fin but not uncommon for that on these. I do not paint the flywheels like some people I just polish them up nice. All my carburetor’s get rebuilt with all new and correct parts. Now I have been trying to get engine to start but have not had any luck doing so. I try for a while then work on something else. Who ever gets it they must let me know what the problem was so I would like to know.. I will start packing the engine and it takes about 5 days to pack it. Thank you for looking.
