I have here a nicly built 1/3 scale Allman Inverted model hit miss engine with Video Below. It is a 1/3 scale of a 1hp Inverted engine built in 1898. It has a 1.25 in bore and a 2 in stroke. Has great compression and runs real well. This model is set up to run on AA batteries in a small pack and is wired to a buzz coil all mounted under the wood base. Only two wires show the one to the timer and one to the spark plug. I run this engine on a mix of Colman gas and wd40. Has nice cast radiator for cooling, brass plumbing, and a drip oiler for the cylinder. Nice gas tank mounted in the wood base also. Also included is the original plans. For reference and repair. It is mounted on a homemade cart but it is a very well built one, and works great. Good gas tank, no leaks, and no water leaks either. Comes fully equipped with a battery and coil. Has the correct, good working Fairbanks oiler on it, with the female pipe threads. Original crank guard is on it and in very nice shape. The muffler is not correct but works very nice. Has the original tin battery box and original nameplate. NO welds on the engine! Knife switch on the battery box works just as it should, and so does the speed control lever for the governor. This engine is ready to work or play. This is truly ready to hit the shows tomorrow, just need gas and oil. I ran it today on a half tank of gas for almost 10 hours!! I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. The engine has almost zero wear, every pin and bushing is nice and tight with no slop. You can even seen the original factory machining marks in the bore yet! Looks to have a rebuilt Wico EK magneto on it, if it’s not rebuilt it’s just as good as rebuilt. Start easy, and runs perfect. No clunks, knocks or bad noises with this one. NO welds or issues. Mounted on non-original skids but they serve the purpose fine. Green wagon in pictures is not included in sale! You don’t come across engines in this condition every day, so if you are into all original farm fresh engines, here is your chance. Pulley side of engine has awesome original paint and the decal is basically fully intact. Magneto side decal is a little more faded but still very nice. I ran the engine for about 6 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. Flywheels run straight as an arrow. Factory muffler and pulley. Good gas tank, no leaks. No water leaks either. I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. Very nice example of a 6hp Novo built in Lansing, MI. This engine was built in 1924. The engine is in very good shape mechanically and the only weld is an old freeze crack repair under the Novo decal, but it’s a very good looking weld. NO other repairs or issues. It is mounted on a nice hardwood platform skid, with heavy duty swivel casters. Comes with the original Novo starting crank and factory hopper cover. Wico EK magneto looks to have been rebuilt, and it throws a great spark. Compression is very strong and the engine runs great. Fuel pump does it’s job just like it should as well, keeps the gas right up in the carb as it’s supposed to. Flywheels run true, and there are no issues there either. Only thing it may need is a shim taken out of the rod cap, there is a small clunk when it runs and I’m quite sure it’s not a wrist pin clunk, should only take a few minutes to take a shim out of the cap. This engine will run nice and slow, it almost stops before it fires. If you have been looking for a good 6hp Novo, or a large vertical hit & miss, here is your chance. Muffler is a pepop for an early Economy engine, but looks great. This is not a small engine. I ran the engine for about 3 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. The engine is mechanically almost perfect, very strong holding compression and very minimal wear on all the moving parts. Only thing missing is the crankguard. Only flaw with this engine is a small hairline crack in the pulley side flywheel. It was caused by somebody driving the key in too far. The crack is only about an inch and a half in total length and it does NOT travel all the way across the flywheel hub to the back, it traveled up a spoke and stopped. The crankcase side of the hub is not cracked. Flywheel has a minor 1/8-1/4 wobble. The flywheel is not loose on the crank, its nice and tight, I honestly don’t think it needs any attention, should be just fine as it is. The engine runs great, super hot PR Wico magneto. Even the nameplate is original and in great shape. Comes with a good working oiler. There are NO other cracks breaks or welds on this engine, and none on the pump or cart either! I pumped water with it for about 5 minutes the other night and then it puked out a handful of acorn chunks and stopped pumping, it needs a good flushing, squirrels must have got into the pipes, very minor thing I just didn’t take the time to flush the pump out. This engine doesn’t need anything to be show ready, just some gas and oil! It is mounted on a great looking cart probably a 100+ year old industrial cart of some kind, very well, and heavy made. I ran the engine for about 5 hours the other day and it never missed a beat. I can also store it here for up to 6 months, for no charge as long as it’s paid for. This is a Sattley Montgomery Ward Hit and Miss engine. Its 1 1/2 HP and 550 Speed. It also has a Wico Type EK No 195811. Heres what i was able to find out about it, It was manufactured after 1926 by Nelson Brothers Co. This engine was a barn find. It was on the very back of the building covered in layers of tarps. Even the hopper was filled with antifreeze. It’s got great Compression and Spark, Its completely there and ready to run. Seems like museum quality. I will do my part to help get it to you. Im certain it will start, I’m just not the girl to start it. I uploaded a video of it running! I have thoroughly looked the engine over and there are NO cracks, breaks or welds. Very unworn, zero slop in the detent, cam gear has no back and forth movement, no endplay in the crank at all… Flywheels run perfectly true. Intake valve has some crud behind it, just needs to be popped a few times or maybe lapped in, easy to take the valve chest off and do that. The freeze plugs are both out, just needs new ones installed before you put water in the hopper. NO water jacket cracks. Original tin crank guard. Original nameplate, battery box, and nice large correct pulley. Could use a shim added to the rod cap, the engine would coast longer, its a little tight how they have it. This was taken out of a barn down south in the 1970′s I believe, and I’m quite sure this engine hadn’t ran in 50+ years until today. If your in the market for a large Monitor, this is as nice of an untouched engine as you could ask for. Original skids and gas tank, which doesn’t leak! Feel free to ask questions. (you can run it on gasoline as well) These 1hp Titan JR engines are incredibly hard to find, and when you do they are usually worn out or in bad shape. This one is neither of those things. The only flaw with this engine is a weld on the head. They did a very nice job welding it, good quality weld, and I’m a welder so I know what I’m looking at. Somebody also added a piece of steel to the top of the trip rod, I think just for extra weight, it would be very easy to take that top piece off, the rest of the trip is totally correct and how its supposed to be. Ignitor works great, very little wear in the shaft. This a much harder to find Titan JR compared to others due to the duel fuel (Gasoline/Kerosene) carburetor. I think they realized it was a bad idea to have such a small hit & miss engine running on Kerosene so that carburetor was short lived. The carb is in great shape, no issues. The original, two compartment gas tank is in really nice shape, NO leaks! Has both of the original filler caps on the tank yet. Comes with the good working, early style oiler that is on it. Other than the old 1970′s paint job that is flaking off, this engine is very unmolested, and unworn. Compression is very good, fires nice and strong and coasts well. This engine has zero knocks, clunks, or bad noises when it runs, the only noise you hear is when it fires and the small cam noise every revolution like all hit & miss engines make. No wrist pin hammering, piston slop, gear noise or any of those bad things. I can’t find any welds on this engine other than the head, which if you dressed that down, you would never even know it was welded. Only thing this engine is missing, is a muffler and crank shield. The magneto on these I believe was optional, this one is a battery and coil engine. If it wasn’t for the minor issue with the weld on the head, this engine would be about as good as you could hope for, out of a Titan JR. This one is very hard not to keep for my own collection, this engine will make a great rare addition to somebody’s collection. Feel free to ask questions.
