This is a real nice old rotary belt driven centrifugal pump. It was made by Red Jacket in Iowa and is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It turns over very smoothly and would work great to move the cooling water of a large hit and miss gas engine. It stands about 9 1/2 inches tall and is about 10 inches long. The outside of the vane housing is about 8 1/2 inches in diameter. It is probably called an 8 inch pump. It mounts with four slots and has a v-belt pulley on it. This could easily be changed to a flat belt pulley if you so choose. The pipe threads are 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 inches and are in great shape. This could be a very useful pump in the hit and miss engine world, either for cooling or for a water pump display run by an engine. The pictures tell the story. This is a very unusual flat belt driven piston type water pump pressure washer made by Hardie Manufacturing Company as seen on the brass serial tag. It is in excellent original condition as can be seen and retains most of it’s original paint and lettering. It is in a factory enclosure and the sheet metal panels on each side lift up to watch it work. I believe the cart it is on is shop made specifically for this pressure washer. It has an opening on the top for the belt and the motor carriage appears to be homemade. It doesn’t appear to have been used very much as there is still some paint on the drive pulley. It turns over nice and smoothly with no wear in the bearings or on the gears. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of except one of the bearing caps which I’ve provided a picture of. The other bearing cap looks to be identical so this should be an easy repair. There are two original tips for the hose. The overall size of the cabinet is about 24 inches square and 36 inches tall to the top of the case without the belt guard. It has some paint overspray on it from living in a shop type environment for many decades. The hose is dry and may need to be replaced but this should be available at your local farm or industrial supply store. I’ve seen a lot of early industrial pumps and setups but this particular setup is a first for me! It would certainly be a conversation piece using it at your local engine run by an engine! Oddball setups like this hardly ever turn up in the wild or even at swap meets anymore so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss this one. The pictures tell the story. This is an extremely nice original and rather hard to find Chandler piston type water pump that was commonly used on steam traction engine water tender wagons to transfer the water from the wagon to the boiler. It was made by Chandler Pump Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and has the name in raised letters on the side of the body. It is in outstanding condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. The pump measures about 18 inches long, 18 inches tall on the board, and about 44 inches to the top of the handle. The handle moves as it should with seemingly little wear. It may need new leather cups on the piston but it might even pump water the way it is! Leather cups are available rather inexpensively if it does need them. It seems to be mounted on its original board as it too has some original paint on it. The original brass bleeder plugs are in it as can be seen. This one of the nicest transfer pumps that I’ve ever come across as most of them are pretty beat up from years of use. The pictures tell the story. It’s tough to find pumps like this that are this nice so don’t miss it!
