Here is a very rare piece! This J112 igniter bracket and Webster magneto fits a large Armstrong gas engine. You see few mag brackets around now and then, but you rarely see anything for an Armstrong. The Webster is the large size like you see on the bigger engines. I’ve kept this mag on the shelf for years as part of our collection, but I figured if anyone needed it for an Armstrong engine, it just as well go back in service. It is greasy and dirty, but I think everything on it is complete and seems to be in good shape. The mag is missing one screw, but that’s the only thing I can see gone. It even has the original starting trip lever. The Mag & igniter both move freely and I don’t see anything broken or repaired on either. The points look good and it even has the original terminal clip on the igniter and the original name band on the mag. These brackets are hard to find and this one is in good condition for being 100+ years old. Don’t miss it if you need one. Please check out my other engine parts auctions. Here is a Webster JY magneto. This mag doesn’t look too special in the pictures but I think it can be great magneto with a small amount of effort. Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. Needs a key that goes in the shaft to hold the trip block in place. Only very minimal bearing wear, the armature spins freely when the springs are removed except for the very strong magnetic pull. 2-9/16″ x 2-7/16″ mounting pattern. The mounting studs are all tight in there holes. This mag is for an igniter and will not fire a spark plug. Needs a new wire but that is extremely to replace. I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours. If you want advice on how to use it please give me a call and I’ll be glad to help. Please do not tear it apart to “clean it” or “paint it” and then try to return it or get me to pay for a rebuild because it stopped working. Most items will go out faster though. I have many good parts and pieces I will be listing in the next few months. I try to do a very good job of listing everything I sell in a very accurate manner to explain all the good and bad points with the pictures and in the description. Here is a very rare magneto / igniter setup for a Simplicity Gas Engine. This is an early bracket with the highly sought after and rare Podlesak magneto. Or even if you just need a mag, you won’t find them much nicer in barn fresh condition than this. I’ve looked the mag & igniter over and they seem to be in nice original condition. I don’t see anything broken and there are no welds or repairs. The igniter and mag both look nice and greasy & they rotate smoothly. Neither are stuck nor are the worn out. The shafts feel nice and snug. I hooked a meter up to the mag and flipped it with a screwdriver & it moved the needle back and forth. So the coils should be good. It might need a recharge on the magnets, but I think it should work without much more than a good cleanup & lubrication. This is a really nice outfit & I would be very excited to find this if I needed it for my Simplicity engine. 2 7/8 center to center on the mounting holes. Here is a Webster Model M. The spark on this one is very hot! Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it. Original name tag or band. The bearings only have very minimal wear, I took the springs off and spun the armature and felt a s trong magnetic pull and no drag. I recharged this mag right before I took the pictures. The mounting pattern is 1-1/2″ x 2″ on center. It looks like the studs have been replaced, a couple wiggle just a tiny little bit but they all seem very solid. One of the spring holder end plates is brass and one is cast iron. I think the brass one is probably a later factory replacement part, it is hard to notice they do not match and it will not hurt anything. This mag is for an igniter and will not fire a spark plug. This is an extremely hard to find original Webster magneto for an ignitor fired hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It is a model PY with 3 magnets. The magneto mounts on a 2 7/16 x 2 13/16 inch bolt pattern and was used on larger gas engines of the day. There is almost no noticeable wear in the bearings. I checked it just before I took the pictures and it puts out a nice, hot, blue spark that will surely run your engine if it is set up properly. There is very little wear on the trip finger. The threads in the mounting holes need attention in at least two of them. Two still have the studs in and may be usable but you may want to helicoil them as well. It has the original name band on it yet. It has a slight crack in one of the endplates that some space age adhesive should remedy pretty easily. It also has a chipped ear on that same endplate. It also needs a leadout cover. I’m pretty sure the endplates and leadout covers are the same as the Webster JY magnetos. It has new springs on it. These large PY magnetos are almost impossible to find in the wild or even at swap meets. I’ve only owned 3 of them in 20+ years. If you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up! It would also make a great spare on the shelf. Let the pictures be your guide. Here is a Webster Podlasak Magneto as used on many early hit and miss engines. These were esp popular on the IHC Famous/Titan line, but were also used on other early engines. These mags are much rarer than the later Websters and really dress up an early engine! This one has been on the shelf in my collection for many years & I’m thinning out a few mags this winter. These don’t come up often so don’t miss it if you need one. The mag is complete and I don’t see any damage of any type on it. It does not turn, but hopefully that just means it’s not worn out. It is the same as the Simplicity engines but being marketed in Canada it was call a LaNapoleon. It is in good condition for it’s age with no cracks, breaks, or repairs other than an old one on the head and ignitor bracket, and the fuel saver. This engine sits on the original skids and looks like it was mounted to two runners to pull in the snow many decades ago. It has some original paint under the repaint. This engine would benefit from an unrestoration or a proper restoration. It has a brass bodied Webster magneto on it. It has a stainless steel gas tank and needs to be plumbed. The flywheels run true. This is a rather large engine for not a large price! It has nice lines to it and would be a fine addition to your early hit and miss engine collection or display. The pictures tell the story. You’ll like it. I can deliver this for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, engine shows or swap meets later this year. Here is a very rare magneto / igniter setup for a Simplicity Gas Engine. This is an early bracket with the highly sought after and rare Podlesak magneto. Or even if you just need a mag, you won’t find them much nicer in barn fresh condition than this. I’ve looked the mag & igniter over and they seem to be in nice original condition. I don’t see anything broken and there are no welds or repairs. The igniter and mag both look nice and greasy & they rotate smoothly. Neither are stuck nor are the worn out. The shafts feel nice and snug. I hooked a meter up to the mag and flipped it with a screwdriver & it moved the needle back and forth. So the coils should be good. It might need a recharge on the magnets, but I think it should work without much more than a good cleanup & lubrication. This is a really nice outfit & I would be very excited to find this if I needed it for my Simplicity engine. 2 7/8 center to center on the mounting holes.
