Good older restoration 1 1/2hp John Deere E (26XXXX) hit and miss engine. It was restored many years ago and has held up pretty well. Everything seems to be in great shape and turns and interacts as it should. It has decent compression and shouldn’t take much to make noise although I haven’t tried it. The gas tank has many solder type repairs on it and there is an extra stud screwed into the side of the water jacket for a push rod return spring but this could easily be disguised. It works just fine as it is and could surely be left along. The magneto looks to be in good shape and the engine has the correct muffler and pulley on it. There is some main bearing thrust that could be taken up but it would run the way it is. All in all a pretty honest old John Deere engine.
